A lot to love at French-inspired bistro in Newport News’ Hilton Village

Lately, I find myself daydreaming about the OG Burger. The juiciness of the thick, well-seasoned wagyu patty — cooked medium and top…

I see it's been quite a while since I posted about this. HB 282 allowing Charlottesville, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, and Newport News to tax land at a higher rate than buildings has passed overwhelmingly from the senate subcommittee. Still a ways to go but we are on track for success. #HB282 #cville #TaxReform #FallsChurch #Fredericksburg #NewportNews #SplitRateTaxation #housing https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB282

Did you know that a better collective bargaining bill is making its way through the General Assembly? SB 378 would give universal public sector collective bargaining rights to public employees such as teachers & school staff, firefighters, police officers, and municipal workers, without requiring approval from School Boards or City Councils. Please email your state delegate and senator in support of SB 378!
Look up your VA delegate and senator here: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov
A similar universal public sector collective bargaining bill passed the General Assembly in 2025 but was vetoed by then-Gov. Youngkin. Gov. Spanberger is more likely to sign. So far the bill has passed out of its house subcommittee and senate subcommittee.

If you can’t join the meeting but want to show support for collective bargaining, please email the School Board and City Council to let them know that you support contract negotiations / collective bargaining rights for NNPS employees and for city workers.

NO KINGS in Newport News · Indivisible

**In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings.** # This a Peninsula Indivisible event! Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. “NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together. The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us. _A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events._
