Finished up one of the final chapters of my latest novel yesterday, and was fairly bummed out after doing a word recount to find that I was coming in much lower than expected.

I have historically always struggled with adding content to stories (especially the more "serious" the story is.) As a reader, I hate having my time wasted, and I feel the same as an author.

Going to have to figure out what to do about this...

Alternatively, the length just is what it is!

My first novel, The Fallen Banner, is the beginning of my low-fantasy stories in Aerothos, a historically-inspired land ravaged by war. In The Fallen Banner, we meet a cast of characters from various backgrounds who are forced to bear the burdens of war.

Its main protagonists, Caim and Leila Marcher, are sibling royalty who fight to protect their home and those they love when their kingdom falls to ruin.

In Vassal LARP, my character is Dimitri Maritz von Austrenburg.

His family was usurped by other nobles in his realm, kickstarting a chain of events that left most of his family dead. While known to some as a kind ruler with many loyal friends and subjects, his enemies and political opposition know him as a ruthless warlord, bent on revenge, no matter the cost.

Time will tell if Dimitri's exploits spell prosperity or ruin for his realm.
