Fifteen years ago today, we lost David Foster Wallace.

Twenty years ago, I met him at a book signing. We were told he would sign two items, so I printed a “story” about him that had just run in the Onion.

When David saw this, he shook his head, laughed, and said, “Oh, that!”

“Is this bad?” I said. “Have you signed one of these yet?”

“No, it’s fine,” he said, still amused as he began drawing on it.

“Do you know her?”

He laughed again. “No.”

At minimum, I made him laugh.

One year ago today, I received my first book I published on my Kindle app.

I cannot put into words, in one post, how much my life has changed and improved in one year where I published four novels, hosted two Lodges, and guested on numerous podcasts.
