Did a little test by rendering my shark scene with Octane Renderโ€™s PMC kernel and the Photon tracing kernel.

Photon tracing clearly has the edge when it comes to caustics through nested dielectrics (glass + water).

I didnโ€™t record the rendering times, but those always differ between systems anyway. Photon tracing obviously gets more light and noise solving done in the same amount of samples.

I did a little test between three auto-retopologizers: 3ds Max ReForm, ZBrush ZRemesher and the Quad Remesher add-on.

QR is the same as ZR, but yields a slightly more relaxed topology. Reform does a pretty nice job as well, but some of the shape flow is lost, and it has slight trouble with the tail.
