Just watched Am I OK? and it’s now one of my all-time favorite lesbian movies, right next to Carol and Imagine Me & You. šŸ’•
I loved it because it’s a beautiful lesbian story with the focus on strong friendship. Nothing overly complicated—just coming to terms with it, and getting on with a lovely life.
The aesthetics: pink and purple sunset skies, deep blue water, freedom to breathe deeply, chill beats, cool and comfy vibes—what it feels like to be 30.
Dakota Johnson’s subtle humor and portrayal of quirky autistic-coded traits was so relatable. Watching her accepting her sexuality and loving herself (and her bff) helped inspire me to accept my own AuDHD traits a little more. (I accepted my lesbian identity long ago, but it was still cute watching her realize why dating guys didn’t click.)
Highly recommend this light, uplifting, inspiring story—especially for lesbians who love Carol and Imagine Me & You and want another one to rewatch. šŸŒ…

River path, last traces of fall.
Crunch of leaves underfoot.
A peace I want to keep close.
Step outside if you can—let it find you too.

Update - want to be positive but did not really care for the book. The mystery was never explained in the end, you’re just left with more questions.

When you have the autistic ability to spot patterns and connect dots, creating a big picture scenario, but you also have ADHD, RSD, and a fear of perception running interference and making it difficult to ever get these ideas into a coherent form for others to read and digest. I’ve learned there’s a hack for this- the executive dysfunction in your brain can be improved by leveraging AI as a tool to help mirror back your thoughts to you in an untangled way, and it can help you step by step in writing in YOUR OWN words so your ideas can reach others - a task which can otherwise seem impossible. #autism #adhd #audhd #aipositive #RSD

And it’s done, my first stylized painting after all those Bob Ross tutorials. I tried really hard to to focus on the quality of my brushstrokes and not to overwork this piece. My success in the regard is debatable.

I’m currently reading Our Wives Under the Sea, about 25% through currently. I just don’t know what to make of it! Is it horror? Fantasy? Can it be considered lesbian literature? Not sure yet, but the review by Sarah Waters seems to say yes. I went into it without knowing much about the story. It’s strange, and it gives me The Abyss vibes, which makes me think aliens or something will pop up under the water. It’s sad and melancholy so far, but not sure what else I can expect when the pov alters between the aftermath of a woman dealing with the miraculous return of her wife whose sub sank to the bottom of the ocean, and the pov of the wife as the sub is sinking. Very eerie. Anyone else read this? #booklovers #amreading #bookstodon
