And it’s done, my first stylized painting after all those Bob Ross tutorials. I tried really hard to to focus on the quality of my brushstrokes and not to overwork this piece. My success in the regard is debatable.

@gwenbeads speaking as someone who put down the brush and is afraid to pick it up again after such a long absence, overwork is better than no work haha

I’ve never seen a stylized work like this and I think it’s pretty cool

@crazybutable we have a saying around here: anything worth doing is worth overdoing. It’s been fun finding my painting style. The more I practice and learn, the closer I’m getting. Thanks for your kind comments.
@gwenbeads I did pick up a bunch of art stuff for Christmas and I hope to get off my butt soon. Still have to make it through the holiday season with the family obligations
@gwenbeads Yes, now that you mention it, perhaps a bit overworked now. I looked up the previous version (landscape of a sunset over the hills) and I think I liked that even more.
@gwenbeads
I like it like it is!
@gwenbeads I think it looks great - well done!

@gwenbeads I like this. I also like fellow Wisconsin artist, Bruce Bodden.

@cmthiede thanks for the link. I can see the similarities in what we are both trying to do with stylized landscapes.
@gwenbeads I find it hard to achieve, or break away from, what Grant Wood did with the landscape. Though, it appears both you and Bruce have found unique avenues for viewers to explore. Great work.

@cmthiede oh, Grant Wood’s use of perspective in his landscapes is divine. You feel like your way up high looking down. Notice his high horizon lines. You can also see the tops of his trees. We were discussing horizon lines here yesterday. Lower HLs make you feel like you’re in the scene. Higher HLs make you feel like you’re looking at the scene. Myhuu uh stand has convinced me to lower my HLs in my paintings.

Lawren Harris from the Group of Seven has also done a lot of noteworthy landscapes that I think are inspiring. And Eyvind Earle, who painted for Disney. OMG!

@gwenbeads that’s better than anything Bob Ross painted. Well done.
@gwenbeads You are really talented. Very beautiful. There is so much happening that moves the eye around.

@keithwolcott

@EllisLove

Thank you. Talent comes from practice.

@gwenbeads this would make an outstanding diamond painting

@gwenbeads This is so charming! The feeling I get with the forest curving in is that the sunlight feels that much warmer. Like a hug of color.

(I may have already nicknamed the foxes as "Mischief" and "Curiosity" :) )

@just_one_bear a hug of color, the love that. Here’s a closeup of
Mischief and Curiosity for you.
@gwenbeads , love it! It has a magical quality to it.
