What you may not have heard is that the State of Texas took over the Houston school district and installed its own superintendent.

Good. The whole concept of cash bail is that people should be detained pre-trial based on how much money they have, instead of whether they're a flight risk or a risk to the community. It's an indefensible system. It should be abolished everywhere.

These include hidden razor wire traps, the withholding of water even in extreme heat, and orders to push migrants—including children and infants—back into the Rio Grande where they might drown. The sight of razor wire to corral innocent human beings has echoes for me personally, when similar wire surrounded the Japanese American internment camps of my youth.
