This week, I had the opportunity to stay 2 nights at the Pic du Midi #Observatory, in the french Pyrénées. I captured some #timelapse from this site, which is still magical.

I was astonished by the dynamism of this observatory: new domes, new #instruments, new projects and new buildings. #Research in #astronomy in the metropolitan #France is performing like a charm.

I fully support its application to the @unesco !

My latest for Middle East Eye: satellite imagery analysis reveals that an Ethiopian army base in western Ethiopia is being used by Sudan's genocidal RSF militia as a logistics and weapons supply hub. From the base, the RSF have crossed into Sudan and launched attacks on Sudanese army positions. Sources we've reached in Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia all say the initiative is backed by the UAE.

The Pont du Gard is one of my favourite Roman artefacts anywhere. Built in the first century CE, this elevated aqueduct was constructed without mortar, and is about 275 m long and 50 m high. The total fall across the structure is only 2.5 cm - it truly is an engineering marvel. The protuding stones were used in construction to secure formwork and scaffolding.
