New paper out: #trait composition of #carabid #beetle and #spider communities has changed across the past 40 years and rate of change is related to #landuse

PhD student on temporal changes in insect communites (project INSECT)

good food, healthy environment As part of the INSECT research initiative, Agroscope is investigating the state of insect communities in agricultural landscapes by systematically sampling plants and arthropods on previously studied sites in three regions of Switzerland.

Last PhD paper finally out! A few years back, we measured #invertebrate #herbivory on some 160'000 leaves. In this Ecological Monographs paper, we show how #landuse changes herbivory rates and how this relates to changes in #plant and #insect communities🌿🪲

In this new #NatureCommunications paper, we study 40-year trends of #insects in #Switzerland and relate them to the concurring changes in #LandUse and #Climate.

Different roles of concurring climate and regional land-use changes in past 40 years’ insect trends - Nature Communications

Drivers of long-term trends in insect populations are usually inferred from space-for-time substitution studies rather than from time-series data. Here, the authors investigate insect trends across a 40-year period in Switzerland and test their linkages with climate change, land use change and their interactions.

🪲Our new @FunEcology paper, in which we show that environmental conditions at different spatial scales determine the composition of #deadwood #beetle assemblages🌲

Time for a late #introduction. I am a community #ecologist studying #insects under #globalchange, with a special focus on #landuse and #climatechange.🦋 🐞🐄 🚜 🌲 🌞 I use spatial approaches but also #timeseries analyses to understand how these drivers affect insect communities, species interactions and related #ecosystem functions. I am based at #Agroscope in Switzerland🇨🇭
Also, I am a hobby #macro photographer and might post some pictures every now and then📷 🕷️
