Palestinian activist Ayman Ghrayeb was forcibly disappeared by Israeli forces on 17.11; now he is hospitalized and facing administrative detention.

Ayman Ghrayeb, a prominent Palestinian grassroots activist based in the Jordan Valley, was arrested by Israeli Occupation Forces on Monday, November 17, and disappeared for two days before his lawyers were given any information about his whereabouts.

Human rights activist Andrey reports that Palestinian activist Ayman Ghraieb was forcibly disappeared by Israeli occupation forces while documenting the expulsion of the Palestinian community of Fayasil in the Jordan Valley, occupied West Bank.

For two days, neither journalists, lawyers, nor the Red Cross could locate him. Sources now confirm he is being held at a military base, reportedly under the jurisdiction of Shin Bet, Israelโ€™s secret police.

Activists are calling on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation for his immediate release.

Fact check: How AI videos hijack your emotions in 8 seconds โ€“ DW โ€“ 10/08/2025

Welcome to the world of AI slop. Short, AI-generated clips are flooding the internet, drowning out authentic and original stories. They may look harmless, but they are one of the biggest misinformation tools.

@Remittancegirl To me, intent is a fundamental requirement of art and media, and that is why I dislike AI output so much: it has zero intent; but it has the *appearance* of intent, so it is inherently deceptive.

To put it in Literature 101 terms, AI can only produce text, without context, subtext, or pretext. While the person sharing its output can supply context, subtext, and pretext, they are necessarily incoherent with (and many times, deceptively in opposition to) the content that AI produces.

To me, without intent, art is a lie, because art is inherently communication between two humans through a medium. And so AI cannot produce art; it can only produce *a lie about art* that can only deceive. Itโ€™s noise, but itโ€™s worse than noise, because itโ€™s noise that masquerades as signal.

Thoughts on AI art

Art is, fundamentally, a form of communication; that to me is what differentiates art from natural phenomena such as โ€œnatureโ€ and math, within which we can still find beauty, but do not expect an author on the other side.
