@fesshole I feel this is a reply to a fess that goes something like: "I've known this guy since forever and knew he was into bikes. Just found out I confused him with someone else I met around the same time. Have to fake my death now."
@geoff_eg The Old Forest
@babadookspinoza on the bright side: you only die once

I totally adored Murderbot books 1-6 but then found #7 to be sort of a tedious slog. anyone read #8 -- Platform Decay -- yet? if so, how is it?

@0xabad1dea What's the issue with the hand washing?
@michael Tolkien uses "seem" a lot of times when describing things that happen or that the character is actually seeing. I think it's one of the things that allows the reader to "see" the story from a concrete point of view.
It also leaves things open to interpretation.
@michael I have to disagree. According to the text Legolas was seeing Minas Tirith with his eyes. Yes, it's physically impossible, but it's a legend.
Frodo and Galadriel have unusual perception due to the Ring each carries. It's one of the powers the Rings of Power give. Note how Frodo can percieves Galadriel's ring, while Sam only sees a shining star.
