"Nightcaps
Eine Serie von Straßenlaternen mit aufgesetzten Skulpturen.
Standorte sind auf Google Maps oder auf OpenStreetMap zu finden (vielen Dank Paten der Nacht!)

Nightcaps: Skulpturen gegen Lichtverschmutzung ist ein öffentliches Kunstprojekt, das aus 15 Skulpturen besteht. Die Kunstwerke sind Straßenlaternen aufgesetzt, um das Licht nach oben abzuschirmen und nach unten umzulenken. Die Nightcaps greifen auf eine Vielzahl kultureller Referenzen zurück, von religiösen Kopfbedeckungen über kindliche Pferdeschwänze bis hin zu Fledermäusen und hippen Hüten. Das Augenmerk liegt dabei sowohl auf kultureller Vielfalt als auch auf Biodiversität und regt durch spielerische, optimistische und zugängliche Handlungsalternativen zum Aktivwerden gegen Lichtverschmutzung an.

Das Projekt wurde konzipiert, um öffentliches Interesse für Überbelichtung zu wecken und Gespräche anzuregen. Die Bewohner*innen des Viertels wurden durch Workshops, Fragebögen und Diskussionen mit Wissenschaftler*innen und dark sky Aktivist*innen einbezogen. Der partizipative Ansatz ist von zentraler Bedeutung für die Sensibilisierung dafür, dass durch Lichtverschmutzung Schäden für Menschen und Umwelt entstehen können. Nightcaps wird von der städtischen Wohnungsbaugesellschaft degewo AG unterstützt, der die im Berliner Brunnenviertel installierten Straßenlaternen gehören.

Die erste Auflage des Projekts fand im Rahmen von CURRENT – Kunst und urbaner Raum, Stuttgart, 2021 statt."

Seems fine except for maybe a bit of bad grammar around the "I am also a furry" part right? Well turns out behind the scenes the post was edited to not say "I am queer" before mentioning being a furry, and they got in a lotta trouble with the mods. This led to them no longer feeling welcome on the Ubuntu discourse forums.

The reason given was that the word Queer is a sexual word, which is just patently untrue. Saying you're queer gives less info into your sex life than mentioning your wife/husband, and if that was banned it'd be fucking stupid. Of course by the responses of the mods, it is made clear that that's not the real reason, and instead they're making the decision because of politics.

In the next few posts I'll talk about these extremely problematic moderator responses.

If anybody is wondering, Tracer.ai is legit and operating at the instruction of Microsoft.

They’re an AI brand protection service which has been systematically harming Microsoft’s brand for a while. They also don't appear to know I'm not CEO of the fediverse and can't just delete an account on another server.

Also, obviously, a parody account is fair use in the US and protected speech so they shouldn't be trying to take them offline, too. It's basically a brand reputation service for Microsoft that damages brand reputation by not understanding brand reputation.

I mean, couldn't you comply by HTTP 451ing the profile page with a user agent / IP matching Microsoft's and Tracer dot AI's automated systems? Wonder what would happen to matching followers of the account on your server. Most of them would have leverage with Microsoft, no?
I'd simply comply because I'd want to test how Mastodon and its clients cope with this.
Maybe there's already a config option for this? Surely you're not the first person to receive such a request?
