In no sane universe is SpaceX worth $2.1 trillion. But then, we now live in an insane universe. Come the revolution -- or at least sanity -- this will not stand.
@jeffjarvis The real fun part is after the retail "investors" buy in and the insider, discount buyers cash out.
@ferricoxide @jeffjarvis My understanding is the employees can start selling later this year. Seems like a potential for short sellers.
@Pepperbike @jeffjarvis

Employees always have a blackout period. Usually 6 months or so. Last pre-IPO company I worked for, our grants were at, like, $14. Stock peaked at $184, but crashed to $11 before our 6mo blackout period ended, so...
@jeffjarvis This is just #SpaceKaren's investors dumping their shares into the public market to leave them holding the bag. All of the bad bets (Twitter), bad ideas (CyberTruck), and money-losing garbage products (xAI) are just a pile of turds that are being dumped on SpaceX because the US Government won't let it go broke, since that's the overwhelming majority of their ability to access Low-Earth-Orbit.

@JustinDerrick An overextended #duopoly is built to eventually cause a massive vacuum, between the two poles. Key to this effect is crony politicians writing policy, for the #TechBros and #FossilFuels #oligarchs, sacrificing future generations for front-loading #Capitalism #greed, while overlapping #ecosystems accelerate in collapse.

Worse, #ClimateCrisis puts us in jeopardy of another #MassExtinction.

Replace abusive power with ethical #scientists.

@jeffjarvis

We live in "insideout-upsidedown-sideways" time.

@jeffjarvis Truth Social which has no business model took a very long time to move from its high near $100 towards its real value of less than $1 per share. But it is now down to $7.89.

Only time will tell if the full SPCX stock is worth something or just speculative behind a company with no hopes for profit so will drop bigly over time.

@jeffjarvis Somethging else to consider, just as happened with DJT stock, institutional investors who participated in IPO will support the stock price until they have reduced their positions by selling shares to individual investors. Oncethey are out/safe. they let the stock vary freely.

IPO = new shares sold to institutional investors at IPO price who then make them available on the marlet.

@jeffjarvis Already changed my portfolio so I don’t own any.
@jeffjarvis In no sane universe is multiplying the price of a recent transaction by the number of shares outstanding any measure of the worth of a corporation; but since it is an easy number to calculate. . ,
@jeffjarvis could have gone with a stock ticker symbol like S.X, crude but creative, but were too spineless and chose SPCX, which sounds like "spatchcocks".
@jeffjarvis no, we live in universe with laws of logic and physics. Of course SpaceX is not worth 2.1 trillion. These people who currently buy shares are not able to measure it accordingly and lose money - some of them happily.
@jeffjarvis And this company worth 2.1trillion is going to start by getting more loans
@jeffjarvis move the decimal two places to the left to be in the ballpark
@jeffjarvis I think this is just a bunch of cynical people trying to make a quick buck. They just don’t care what happens to people. They don’t care about the company fundamentals. They don’t care about AI. They just figure they can get rich.
@jeffjarvis @trending_bot so is this when we short it?
