Here is my chosen asset allocation:

30% Large-cap in S&P 500
15% SMID (small/mid) in Russell 2500
30% International in Global non-US Index Pool
25% Bonds split between two funds

In the end, the allocation happened to to very similar to a 2040 target retirement fund. I will rebalance yearly and change the allocations to favor safer investments as I get closer to retirement. (3/3)

To accomplish these goals I am only investing the domestic large-cap assets in a fund that tracks the S&P 500. I’m diversifying with a mix of Small/mid-cap funds, international funds, and bonds. I’ve chosen funds that have a weighted expense ratio of .0335% and a weighted performance very comparable to a 2040 target retirement fund. (2/3)
After a couple days of research I’ve decided on an asset allocation that I’m happy with. This is not investment advice and is for a portfolio to retire in 2040. My goals were to protect my portfolio from the VC scammers who got several indexes to bend the rules so passive investors could cumulatively lose billions while they cash out on inflated IPOs, rebalance toward a 2040 retirement date, and protect against a likely US/Tech downturn. (1/3)
After a bit of research I’m thinking around 50% of my portfolio in an S&P 500 index fund, 25% in a foreign stock index fund, and 25% in a domestic bond index fund. I’ll put a few percent of the bonds in a foreign bond fund if any of my accounts offer one. My retirement year will be 2040. Anyone think that’s good or a mistake?
Apparently I need to do emergency research and possibly move funds around in my three 401(k) accounts to avoid losing money from the SpaceX IPO. Ugh, not fun.
