Other people my age are alarmingly old

@donni

and since when did we let tall children buy beer?

@coolcalmcollected @donni

Oh, I know this one. We always did. Our Age ID check was "had money" and "capable of reaching the top of the bar to grab the pint".
This may just be a local West of Scotland custom though. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@CrypticMirror @donni

my mother would send me to the corner store to buy smokes at age 7 🤪

a few years ago I saw someone walk out of a gas station with a case of beer and I swear to god he looked 12. I mean he was tall and drove himself away but

@donni I, too, have noticed this alarming fact.
@donni
Keep waiting ... I've always had that feeling ... UNTIL RECENTLY! ('What *are* those kids *talking* about?)

@donni

Yes, but....

The older I get, the better I was.

@donni there are people only a couple years my senior but 30 years older.
@donni My concern is that other people my age often seem to be alarmingly younger than me.

@donni

Du meinst doch nicht etwa mich?

@donni Tell them to lower the noise?
@donni Agreed!
@grumpydad @donni I'm squarely in my twenties. Twice, but I like to simplify.
@oblomov @grumpydad @donni I need to adopt your way of simplifying ! 😂
@andre123 @grumpydad @donni it's even more useful the next time around 8-D
@donni I'm middle aged af, and still not sure I left my teens.
@donni Even the guy in the mirror is getting old!
@donni it's weird being the same age as old people
@derherrfreitag @donni exactly what I was going to say.
@derherrfreitag @donni I always knew I was going to get old, but I never expected it to happen this fast.
@donni worse I keep seeing our neighbour, who's about 18 years younger than us, and wondering who it is as he suddenly look so old

@donni

And worse, I've started to notice that some people my age are starting to be also be increasingly non-metabolising and have greatly increased levels of horizontality and general permanent inactivity.

@donni I’ve been 21 for, what – 35 years now?
Yeah, I keep looking at the people my age (or younger!) and being surprised at how old they are.
@donni pure Einstein's fault, he invented relativity of the time!
@donni
When I was at lycee there was that guy probably 2 to 3 years older than us, wandering with his pipe and long coat and his nickname was „granpa“ . I was 14 at he time.

@donni Also some people don't look like their age. Some people "look" 40 but you'll discover that they're actually 60, and there's also some that are relatively young, like 30 but look like in their 50's. Most likely because of work & stress or facial hair. People tell me I look 40 because of my facial hair, like whaat? No I don't. I'm 24 !

I was 18 years old 6 years ago. Another 6 years and I'm 30, and I already have some gray hairs. I still look brown from afar so yeah.

@donni ikr?! So glad I’m not as old as the other people I’m the same age. They seem miserable about it.
@donni
On the bright side, they're becoming few and far between…
@donni
And they go through these crazes, you know? Suddenly nobody's having babies or 30-year parties any more, it's all just 50-year parties. Sheer conformism!
@donni a phenomenon I have also noticed around me.
@donni I've been older than my age and looked younger than my age for decades now.
