I finished #BG1 (that was quick) and was thinking what to play next. I remembered I finally have a device I can play my Gamecube games on!
I've wanted to play #PathofRadiance for ages. Man, Titania is an absolute tank.

I've wanted to play #PathofRadiance for ages. Man, Titania is an absolute tank.
I finished Path of Radiance! I want to play Radiant Dawn again, although I'm definitely removing the support between Sothe and Micaiah, because otherwise it just reeks of grooming and incest.
I benched Ilyana until I realised I needed her for Zihark's support bonus, and she turned out to be pretty good!
Rolf started out as being made from rice paper, but with a bit of spamming, he turned out to be really strong, with high accuracy and critical rates.
Oscar is my man 💚
Now I'm trying to decide. Do I replay #BG1 (I missed a lot the first playthrough, including forgetting to go back and complete Durlag's Tower!), or see if my physical copy of #BG2 works on my PC (it should at least work on my old Win7 netbook, since I played BG1 on there)? Or shall I continue with #FireEmblem and play #RadiantDawn?
I decided I wanted to complete more of BG1 (I missed the best parts of Durlag!). So this time I'm playing as Halsin 😆 but no bear transformations for you, Halsy!
All right, gosh, talk about pester power!
My memory is completely going, I was so confused by why I was seeing two different protagonists in my screenshots for #BG1. I actually forgot I played the EE twice :(
Six weeks after the World Series, I completely forgot who we played. I was wracking my brains for days, I had to look it up in the end. This even after I made several posts on here about it. But I can remember we played the Yankees in '24.
Anyway, back on topic, I did buy #BaldursGate2 on DVD, because of everyone saying the EE ruins it, only I found the interface too clunky, since I was used to the EE version from when I bought BG1 on Steam (I played the 8 disc CD version many, many years ago). So when I saw #SiegeOfDragonspear and #BG2 were reduced, I got them both.
I have to say, since playing BG2, #BG3 is feeling a lot more like a sequel. After replaying BG1, BG3 seemed like a different franchise altogether, just in BG wrapping paper. But it feels more linked now.
Anyhoo, I miss Ajantis :( I do wish Larian had kept the same vibe with the UI though. I'm not expecting them to keep the same UI, but something reminiscent of it would have made it feel more cohesive. I still like BG1 best though.
Wise words, Khalid :'(
I'm taking a break from BG2. I thought I'd finally get round to playing #EmilyIsAway.
Freaking Emily, screw her. She's just like my exes.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/417860/discussions/0/1643170269579559214/
I got the ending where the last chapter was Emily saying she didn't want to talk and leaving. The good ending.
If you go to the party, Emily is disappointed because you didn't know she wanted you to kiss her. If you don't go to the party, Emily is disappointed because you didn't know she wanted you there as an exuse to ditch her girlfriend. If you let Emily visit vithout boundaries, she's disappointed because she feels the way you hooked up was so premediated. If you let Emily visit just as as friend, she's disappointed because you didn't make a move.
Yeah! Screw you, Emily. This was actually pretty cathartic. I got the self-respecting good ending. I didn't let Emily string me along and mess with my heart. I kept the boundaries from the beginning and didn't let her cross them. This is the only way to win. Whatever choices you make, she always leads you on then ditches you for the abusive Brad/Travis anyway. So the best ending is to shut her down from the start. Now if only I had the benefit of hindsight in real life!
Emily sucks, but the game itself is good.
I might buy the sequels if they go on offer.
First and only 100%.
Emily still sucks.
Anyway, here is a cool thing.

I don't know when I'm going to revisit #BG3, but I'm planning on ignoring most of the NPCs next time. I'll probably only recruit Astarion, since I've not done his romance story yet. Gale is annoying. Shadowfart is annoying. Lae'zy is annoying. Wyll, eh, he's kinda okay, but also annoying. Jaheira, I liked her until she started hitting on my player in #BG2 within hours of finding her husband butchered, so she's annoying. I wonder how many of them I can just ignore completely and how many I'll have to just bench or... Oh yeah. Karlach, she's also annoying.
They're all annoying. I just want my Ajantis back. Ajantis, noooooooo!

I've almost finished #BG2. I just need to see if there are any loose ends to tie up before I face the boss. I don't think I've even done Jaheira's quest yet. I'm ready for this game to end.
I've just realised there's still the expansion pack to go.
Finished #ShadowsofAmn, I'm now in #ThroneOfBhaal. Irenicus wasn't too hard.
Got a few new games in the #SteamSale.
Freaking Emily, I wonder which part of my character's life she'll wreck next.
I tried Cities: Skylines, but it was too much tutorial and not enough happening.
Tropico, my beloved! To be fair, #Tropico4 is not as different from Tropico 1 as you'd expect. The main difference is it makes my PC buzz and I don't know if that's a sign it's about to blow.
The weird thing about achievements is they don't activate during gameplay, but after you've closed and relaunched the game.
I am not the kind of person to put in 400+ hours on any game, but if I did, I'd have more than 6 achievements to show for it, freaking heck.
I got out my old #Tropico3. I'm so sure the farms looked the same as the ones in #Tropico1 last time I played (I did a bit of the tutorial maybe 2 years ago?). Anyway, there's very little difference between Tropico 3 and #Tropico4. 3 just makes my PC buzz less.
One thing I dislike about the new games is no longer being able to lock overlays and the inability to micromanage.
The better thing about the new games is the graduates actually bother to take up the graduate vacancies. In Tropico 1 I was always having to fire the college graduates from their waitressing job so they'd work in the power plant. And then they'd whinge about being fired. In the newer games, the people do actually make use of the opportunities I give them.
I kinda feel scammed in buying 4. I have the Tropico Trilogy, so I got Absolute Power with it. Tropico 2 doesn't work on my old netbook nor my new PC.
I still haven't been able to play as an evil dictator. Even in the gaming world, I'm still a people pleaser.
Freaking #CitiesSkylines. It took my 5th attempt at building a town to realise why I was always going bankrupt after a certain milestone.
Policies!
So now I'm up to Colossal City and I have over 4m in the bank with a healthy profit. But I still can't enact recycling or fire alarms policies without my income going down to below zero. What am I doing wrong?
I got to the highest level of 90k population. Now what haha.
I'm not a big fan of open ended play. Games like #Tropico and the Sierra city building series have scenarios and campaigns, but #CitiesSkylines doesn't seem to be anything other than open play, which I will probably get bored of eventually. There are unlockables, which are nice.
I'm not a fan of having most of the city features locked behind population milestones. I don't mind if it's just a one off thing, like once you've unlocked it, you've unlocked it, but I have a feeling you have to unlock for each new city. That annoys me, because my way of city building is to have a proper layout planned from the start. Maybe I'll be able to do it on my next city, now that I know what I'm doing.
Certain bus stops had mega overdemand, but I managed to sort them out by adding a few tube stations and some shorter bus loops at the some stops.
Anyway, my first successful town was a functioning hot mess. I got over 5m in the bank and then went on a spending spree buying all the monuments and unique buildings.
Also I found out by accident that if you select a tree, then click on an avenue, you can change the tree type.
Is there a way to get cycle lanes on the base game or is that something locked behind an EP?
I actually learnt about #Tropico from Coconut, she was mad about Tropico 5, it sounded good, so I got the original trilogy since that's all my netbook could handle (only Tropico 1 in fact, and even my new PC won't run 2, so I guess I'll never play it). And if anyone here knows who Coconut is, then all I can say is, wow, small world.
Also, I wonder what happened to her.
Oh there are some scenarios, but they are EP only. Sucks.
Anyway, I made a custom map and it's not very intuitive.
So my river lacked a flow, meaning the sewage built up and I had to ditch pumps and go straight to towers.
So far, I'm liking my new city. I've organised it properly this time and managed to avoid any big death waves.
Now I have major congestion in my city centre. I've made tube lines, but because you don't get tubes until way later into the game, it's a bit tricky to plan the routes. So I have my biggest bus line that takes I think it was about 500 passengers a week? I'll have to check. But now the city centre is just congested with buses, because they're always full. I've tried making small loops to relieve some of the pressure on that bus lane, but it didn't help. And my tube routes are obviously not going where most of the bus passengers want to go.
I may just have to demolish a lot of the stuff in the city centre and force peeple into the suburbs. I put most of my unique buildings in the centre, do I get to build them again if I demolish them? Or maybe the relocate option might work, I've never actually used it.
This freaking game lol
I think I realise the appeal of this game now. Each time I play, I do a little better than the last time, but then I realise I should have done it this way instead. So then once I've hit the 90k milestone, I start a new city, even though it's all very samey, just with the satisfaction of knowing I learned from THAT mistake!
Man, I got my first blue screen of death on Windows 10 today. I had the map editor running on #CitiesSkylines, and since the new router was connecting, but not having interwebz access, I went down to switch the router off and then on again. I went back up a few minutes later, and pressed the windows key to see if the router was working properly, and I got an immediate BSOD.
This freaking game lol
Look at all these people riding the tube!
I've ditched this town and started a new city. I created a new custom map, and I got the river to flow eventually, but it wasn't until I'd got pretty far into my town that I realised I put the ore and oil deposits too high up on the map.
I forgot to take any screenshots though.
There's something so satisfying about following the buses round and watching how many people get on and off.
Here's my new town. I designed this map myself. Note to self: next time have the rail link one tile closer and add a little more river to the central tile.
I'm working up to 70k citizens on my new city. So far I have a pretty good influx of tourists via rail and boat.
Why is a mobility scooter on the road, how souped up is it?
And yes, I do the "RS25 engines lit, boosters ingingition" when my rockets launch!
What exactly does this do, is it just a shortcut to leaving the city? I have a stream of tourists walking into this, but it still says passengers transported is zero.
#ThemePark used to bug out on PC like this as well. Nice to know #EA, true to form, didn't bother to fix the bugs in the #DS release either. I was hoping to run this park long enough to get most of my rides to a high upgrade level, but it's bugging out and then freezing.
I wish there was a stable remake of this. Theme Park was such a good game, it's just so damn buggy. I've heard of #CorsixTH for #ThemeHospital, which I need to give a try some day, if I can remember where I put my CD. Or maybe I'll wait until #TwoPointHospital is on sale, since it's its spiritual successor.
I'm finally getting round to playing #ProfessorLayton and the Miracle Mask.
It seems whoever owned this cart before didn't get very far before selling it to Cex.
I'm on Chapter 2, and #AfroLayton is not something I expected to see.
I am taking good care of the #3DS. No grease or sweat stains around the buttons, despite hours of #SmashBros.
I found the game. It was #DarkPhear and I swear I spent so long grinding for XP on that game while I waited for the full game to be finished.
I've unlocked everything now I think?
With the placement of the Space Elevator, I'm getting huge influxes of tourists. They're causing bottlenecks on the bus routes now. I had almost 2000 passengers at that one station, a record for me. My bus routes can't cope with the demand, even with the route manually set to 500%. I ended up creating another route that just loops around the block where the elevator is. I named it the Idiot Shuttle.
I'm pretty much done with this town and this game for a while. I've still got #ProfessorLayton going and also #DarkPhear.
Ugh, I really don't understand why Nintendo had a game with British characters voiced by Americans. Emmy's voice actor clearly doesn't know how to speak with even the stereotypical posh English accent (she pronounces dawn as Don, come on). I'm so glad they redubbed Luke. Even though his voice actor is a bit of a one trick pony (Ozzbozz!), at least she can do a proper cockney accent. The American voice actor for Luke is just 🤮🤮🤮
Given it's been a bit of a trend to have game characters voiced by Brits in recent years, I'm sure it wouldn't have been hard to get British voice actors.
And the same for the foreign characters on #CabinPressure voiced by Brits, they do such a terrible job 😮💨
I don't know how it took me so long to see that dragon town north of the castle. I just kept wandering around not knowing what to do next, then suddenly the castle is there???
Also I don't know if this is a bug or a secret, but you can take a shortcut through that wall. Cool!
I'm finally at Alicia's tower, and then you lose your team. So now I' m gonna level up my main character a bit more so I can unlock some offensive spells. There's a castle to the east that has enemies that have high immunity to physical attacks, so I need to get my INT and MP up so I can explore before part 2.
I put my #ProfessorLayton and the Curious Village cart in the 3DS and it works fine. Oh man, I'm so glad they recast Luke in the European release. I listened to the US version again to see if it was as bad as I remember, and holy carp, it's actually worse. What the hell were they thinking? She makes Dick van Dyke look like a native Londoner, my ears, they bleed 😭😭😭
WHY NOT JUST CAST BRITISH ACTORS IN BRITISH ROLES what the heck omg it's so bad.
Nice, I managed to slog my way through the bottom floor of that building, and got a fancy sword for my main character, but there's another room full of chests on the other side and I can't find a way in. There's no secret gaps that I can find. Is it just there to troll me or is there a way in? Gah!
This is what I mean. I can't find a way in!
