Finished #ShadowsofAmn, I'm now in #ThroneOfBhaal. Irenicus wasn't too hard.

Got a few new games in the #SteamSale.

Freaking Emily, I wonder which part of my character's life she'll wreck next.

I've almost finished #BG2. I just need to see if there are any loose ends to tie up before I face the boss. I don't think I've even done Jaheira's quest yet. I'm ready for this game to end.

I've just realised there's still the expansion pack to go.

Emily still sucks.

Anyway, here is a cool thing.

I don't know when I'm going to revisit #BG3, but I'm planning on ignoring most of the NPCs next time. I'll probably only recruit Astarion, since I've not done his romance story yet. Gale is annoying. Shadowfart is annoying. Lae'zy is annoying. Wyll, eh, he's kinda okay, but also annoying. Jaheira, I liked her until she started hitting on my player in #BG2 within hours of finding her husband butchered, so she's annoying. I wonder how many of them I can just ignore completely and how many I'll have to just bench or... Oh yeah. Karlach, she's also annoying.

They're all annoying. I just want my Ajantis back. Ajantis, noooooooo!

Baldur's Gate 3 Avoiding Shadowheart and the Artifact for ALL of Act 1

I always find it weird that so many players assume an INT of 8 is super low, when it is basically just average.

Back in them olden days you rolled 3D6 for your scores so a theoretical minimum for any stat wasn't 8. It was 3.

You can't bench #Jaheira without her whining and saying she doubts you'll ever meet again. I don't need her in my group, but once she's gone, she's gone. So I'm stuck with her. Also, girl is meant to be heartbroken over losing Khalid, but she's already chosen my PC as her rebound. Girl!

#BG2

My memory is completely going, I was so confused by why I was seeing two different protagonists in my screenshots for #BG1. I actually forgot I played the EE twice :(

Six weeks after the World Series, I completely forgot who we played. I was wracking my brains for days, I had to look it up in the end. This even after I made several posts on here about it. But I can remember we played the Yankees in '24.

Anyway, back on topic, I did buy #BaldursGate2 on DVD, because of everyone saying the EE ruins it, only I found the interface too clunky, since I was used to the EE version from when I bought BG1 on Steam (I played the 8 disc CD version many, many years ago). So when I saw #SiegeOfDragonspear and #BG2 were reduced, I got them both.

I have to say, since playing BG2, #BG3 is feeling a lot more like a sequel. After replaying BG1, BG3 seemed like a different franchise altogether, just in BG wrapping paper. But it feels more linked now.

Anyhoo, I miss Ajantis :( I do wish Larian had kept the same vibe with the UI though. I'm not expecting them to keep the same UI, but something reminiscent of it would have made it feel more cohesive. I still like BG1 best though.

Wise words, Khalid :'(

Okay kinfolk and kithfolk, the Owlbear is bound for bed. Just gonna brush the bones of my fallen enemies under the bed, curl up, and sleep.

You know what can be great? Revisiting something — a game, say — from your past that you loved. It's really just comforting to go hang out with those old characters and do the quests thing.

Which brings us to Baldur's Gate 2.

The First BG is also great of course, but #BG2 features a great story, a heinous villain, fantastic voice acting, and a stellar score. Moreover, it has romance, you can run a stronghold, and it shows off 2e D&D right when it really gets fun.

I played the ever loving crap out of it when it first came out. The Enhanced Edition lets you play the classic easily on a modern system, with some Quality of Life features, widescreen resolution, and other neat stuff.

One of the greatest #CRPG games of all time, IMHO. And it runs great in Proton or Wine on Linux.

Goodnight fam!

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition on Steam

Rediscover the beloved RPG classic— now enhanced for modern adventurers! Gather your party of heroes and continue the legendary adventure in this story-rich fantasy epic where every choice matters.

I finished my second playthrough and this time I remembered to complete Durlag's Tower. Protip: it's a good idea to empty as much of your inventory as you can before starting the tower. Dump your non essentials in a chest or something, because there is a crap ton of stuff to loot.

I also did Mendas's quest. The butter knife of Balduran! 😆 Yay!

I started #BG2 and I'm thinking, maybe I'll need to buy the enhanced edition, because the interface just seems pretty clunky compared to what I'm used to from BG1EE. And I can't import my save file, nor my character file. I'll wait till it's on offer. When I revisit BG3, I'm going to leave pretty much everyone behind. I'll recruit Asty (because I've still not done his romance yet) and Halsin (yay three way), but the rest can naff off haha.

#BG2 installed fine, but requires the disc to load. I found a crack on gamecopyworld, but I'm worried to use it in case it messes up my install, it seems complicated. I'm used to the ones where you just replace the exe. Has anyone used this one? I guess I'll just have to find a way to balance the disc drive on something. What a pain.

Now I'm trying to decide. Do I replay #BG1 (I missed a lot the first playthrough, including forgetting to go back and complete Durlag's Tower!), or see if my physical copy of #BG2 works on my PC (it should at least work on my old Win7 netbook, since I played BG1 on there)? Or shall I continue with #FireEmblem and play #RadiantDawn?
