Seems like a good day to remind everyone that Trump’s ex-wife Ivana wasn’t an American citizen until 1988. She gave birth to Don Junior in 1977, Ivanka in 1981, and Eric in 1984. — Let’s cancel their birthright citizenship first.
@Strandjunker oh absolutely. ship them all to russia on the first biplane.
@Strandjunker He never joins the dots so should, sooner or later, be hoist by his own pethard, whatever that actually is.
@NicelyManifest @Strandjunker I think it means to accidentally blow yourself up with your own weapon.
@Strandjunker Unless they install an additional law that reenables birthright citizenship if you pay the Mar-E-Lago membership entry fee.
@Strandjunker This doesn’t matter at all, because of Wilhoit’s law: conservatism, in-groups, out-groups, binding, protecting.

@Strandjunker

Not like he can have everyone pushed down the stairs and not-buried in a ditch where he never has to see them.

@Strandjunker

Indeed, and after 9/11 spouses of those killed in the attacks were very much at risk of deportation due to their visas being tied to those of their now dead spouses.

I can't remember the full details from the time or where I read about this, but felt it was unfair even then.

@Strandjunker Trumps grandfather wasn't an American citizen. How should Donald can be a "real American"!

By the way: Whow is a real American?

I think, most of all they say "I am!" are not!

@pictureman @Strandjunker

One side of my family has been in the Americas since the 1600s. That side also has native American blood two generations back. IOW? I can trace back my heritage to before the USA existed, in multiple ways.

I say that to say this: I am in favor of easy immigration and citizenship of people's from anywhere. I reject the unstated racism of the anti-immigration crowd – most of whom would not be citizens if their ancestors had come here under the rules they want.

@jackwilliambell

When I last visited the US in the 90s, I got a tad bored with being shown lovely parabellum houses in the 'South', and mentioned that I had lived in cottages older than his country.

@pictureman @Strandjunker

@bytebro @pictureman @Strandjunker

Yeah, in the USA 'old' usually means 'about 200 years at best'. So whenever I'm in Europe I enjoy seeing 'Europe old'.

@jackwilliambell @bytebro @pictureman @Strandjunker

Some of the refugee's from the Middle East who had settled in Sweden, were visiting historical tourist sites, and were shown a building in Uppsala that was ~1000 years old.

A couple of them had come from the city that was originally called Sumer.

@jackwilliambell @pictureman @Strandjunker I can trace one ancestor back to the revolutionary war and another who arrived on a ship from Newgate prison in 1640.
I also want all the immigrants to have a chance to come here and make their lives better. And my life too
@jackwilliambell @pictureman @Strandjunker The only real Americans are the ones whose ancestors came there 14000 years ago. 😝
@Strandjunker
First off, gross, I'm the same age as Eric, second, Melania is only 3 years older than her oldest step gremlin, yikes.
@Strandjunker trumps grandparents were immigrants
@Strandjunker what about Melania?
@Okuna July 2006 - Barron was born in March. @Strandjunker

@Strandjunker

Did ANYONE bring this up in the trial? doubt it...

@oscarfalcon @Strandjunker it wouldn't be relevant in the trial. Per the text of the EO, as long as at least one parent is either a US citizen or legal permanent resident (green card holder), citizenship is granted.

@mweiss @oscarfalcon @Strandjunker

Whose names go on a birth certificate?

The patient is listed as mother. Clear enough. In the normal course, whoever she says is father--husband, we hope--is listed as father.

Imagine what kind of drama we'll start to see if the citizenship rules change.

@Strandjunker Seems fair. But I bet there will be a millionaire get-out clause.
@Strandjunker you want to do that huh? just to them though?
@Strandjunker trump’s mother was also not a US citizen at the time his older siblings were born.
@Strandjunker

You'd think the advocates for preservation of 14A would figure out a way to mention it before SCOTUS.

@Strandjunker

DJT’s father was a son of immigrants. Unqualified to be President. Deport DJT!!!!

@Strandjunker Even Trump himself is the son of immigrants. (It's worth also remembering that the Drumpf family was banished from their own country for running brothels... Seems kind of fitting actually in retrospect doesn't it?) Then he built his own empire off of taking from others rather than contributing anything and basically never puts in a day of real work (even as """president.""")

Trump really is basically every single thing MAGA professes to hate.

@Strandjunker If you cancel their birthright citizendhip, would they be Czech? Oh no, please don't do that 😱
@Strandjunker And Ted Cruz's, and Marco Rubio's.
@Strandjunker
exile and seize assets

@Strandjunker Melania Trump got citizenship though a special visa for intellectuals. Her contribution to the arts and sciences was posing naked in front of a camera.

EDIT: I corrected my post to Melania Trump because I got the names of imperial house Trump mixed up.

@Strandjunker It would only be fair should the ridiculous nazi argument be upheld by a ridiculous jumping marsupial "supreme" court...

@Strandjunker The executive order states two different situations where a person is no longer a U.S. citizen at birth.[2]

When the mother was unlawfully present in the U.S. and the father was neither a U.S. citizen nor a lawful permanent resident when the person was born.[2]
When the mother was in the U.S. in temporary status, such as a student visa, work visa, tourist visa or under the Visa Waiver Program, and the father was neither a U.S. citizen nor a lawful permanent resident when the person was born.[2]

The executive order states that these provisions are only effective for people born 30 days or more after the date of the order; it would have only applied to children born beginning February 19, 2025 had it not been blocked.[2]

@Jquigley48 @Strandjunker

Baby Daddy Problems.

Just thing of the machinations that will go on at the hospital. The mother you describe will claim that the father was a citizen or resident. Then there will be patrimony DNA tests, leading to a nationwide DNA registry.

This is leading down a dark and stinky hole.

@Jquigley48 @Strandjunker

How many apartments did #Trump sell or rent to #Russian or #Chinese expectant mothers?

One thing no one mentions is that a U.S. citizen has a lifelong tax liability to the U.S. whether or not they are resident here. It's potentially profitable for the U.S., if we had an #IRS to collect the money.

@Strandjunker
Only tiffany's mother had citizenship when she was born.

Punt barron too.

@Strandjunker Sadder irony, the people who want to eliminate birthright citizenship are using freed slaves as the legal shield to justify it—when those very same right-wing reactionaries opposed black people being free, citizens, or having rights at all in the 19th century (and today).
@Strandjunker - Totally. and his third wife got a special Visa meant for Intelligent people: "Einstein Visa", the EB-1. All she did was strip in front of the camera.
