Contacting OMB on behalf of family member with dementia
I hope it's okay to ask a question here about OMB. My uncle is 87 years old and has severe dementia. He was a federal employee his whole life. I'm trying to file his taxes, but he did not receive a 1099 reporting his pension for 2025. I have tried contacting OMB to request a 1099 but they aren't easy to reach. I read another post on reddit that suggested they might pick up the phone at 7:30 am. I'll try that, but is there any other trick for reaching them?Or should I try filing without the 1099? I do know what his pension income was, because I manage his bank accounts. At this point I'm considering just filing for an extension. I'm in the middle of trying to sell his house, which is a huge job. If I can't get a 1099, maybe I should just ask for the 6-month extension. I will be grateful for any advice. Thank you!
