Indefinite Fully Remote Job Offer
For those of you in HR - can an organization with direct hiring authority, bring a new employee onboard and work with the employee to create a reasonable accommodation and/or modify an existing reasonable accommodation to support indefinite, fully remote work? My friend is saying that they're going to be sent an offer soon that will accommodate their working fully remote for as long as they're with the agency, but the job listing does not say remote and only reads "telework eligible." I don't work in HR anymore, but I've advised the friend that this sounds too good to be true, and to think twice before giving up their current position, which is pretty flexible with regards to allowing them to work in a "local remote" capacity. Couldn't the hiring agency just terminate the fully remote reasonable accommodation and demand that they report or move to the locality of main office? Or even better, given the scrutiny of RAs by the current administration, couldn't their new RA with the supposed indefinite fully remote, be brought up for review and terminated?I'd like to give my friend some more advice before they accept the new offer that they're going to receive, and I'm still 50-50 on whether or not what they're being promised is even possible. Any assistance from those in the know would be greatly appreciated!
