This feels like a new start, so here we go!

Hi, I'm Megan, mid-40s woman in tech. I've got plenty of hobbies, a few of them are in the hashtags.
Newly diagnosed as being neurodivergent (AuDHD). Looking to make friends and prefer to use Mastodon for the things I love.

I'm into slow fashion, human rights, crafting, cats, music, and cult horror and sci-fi movies. My latest obsession is with snails.

@electricbraindump Welcome! Snails are very good! 🐌
@sinituulia thank you and agreed! 🐌

@electricbraindump @sinituulia

One of our kids was a *snail whisperer* when younger. It was a joy to experience with them. I’m sure I’ll be sharing some of your posts with them.

We also share some crafting and media interests. Thanks for the reintroduction!

@electricbraindump hi and welcome to mastodon!

One thing to highlight since it is different than other places: you can follow hashtags in addition to people so it becomes easier to meet likeminded people. I for instance saw your post because I follow the #crochet hashtag

@jenni thanks and a great reminder on the hashtags!
@electricbraindump "slow fashion". love that. what kind of music are you listening to? i've been starting an owned media collection in the last year or two. enjoying buying CD's again. 🙂
@alecryan thanks and my musical tastes vary quite widely honestly! I love the idea of going back to physical media, so far I've been building my own collection of mp3s not tied to any platforms, so it's still offline but I haven't made the full leap to physical media - maybe I should consider it again!
@electricbraindump Oh lots of my collection has been digital downloads as well. I love Qobuz. The downloads are as high fidelity as it comes and the file types aren't tied to any platform. Plus it's not one of the major tech companies (like Apple or Google) who's getting the % cut. But I've been trying to get the physical media when I can too. Nice to be able to listen fully off my computer. 😊

@electricbraindump

Hi there! I am also newly diagnosed Autistic and ADHD. I also like yarn crafts.

Welcome in

@PetraPhoenix thanks and appreciate the welcome!

Feeling my way through the diagnosis and how I feel about it has definitely been a rollercoaster of emotions.

@electricbraindump

Oh definitely!

I'm still not sure I know how to think about it, but it has already been helpful in a number of ways

@PetraPhoenix yeah, I feel like it answered a lot of questions and suspicions for me, over the years but it also opened its own book of questions as well!

Though I feel overall that's a positive thing.

@electricbraindump

Yes, I think it's a net positive, and it can only help to understand more about myself.

Trying to unpick what of my behaviour is masking and what is actually just me, is tricky after so long

@electricbraindump Hello! Mastodon is good for pretty much all those things so you’ll be right at home 😀

@electricbraindump welcome! Got any cult movie favorites?

My last movie night was Kuroneko, and next up is Malignant

@templewulf it's too early in the morning for my brain to function yet! But I will get back to you on this.

Have you seen Ink by Jamin Winans?

@electricbraindump no! I remember chatter about it forever ago but couldn't find it. Thanks for the link 😄
@electricbraindump Welcome! How did you get into snails... Like what was the thing that got you hooked?
@jesse_cail honestly that they are underappreciated and cute (in their own way!)
@electricbraindump Welcome, Megan! I'm a woman retired from STEM and am always happy to meet more women in tech and STEM. I hope you will find Mastodon to be as interesting, informative, and friendly as I do.
@kateiacy thank you and looking forward to learning more!
@electricbraindump hello fellow AuDHD person! I hope you enjoy your time here!

@electricbraindump Welcome! I'm not sure if we have a specifically AuDHD group here but there's lots of autistic folks. Check out @autistics and #ActuallyAutistic for some connections.

@wil @autistics oooh thanks for sharing and hello!
@electricbraindump Welcome to the fediverse. The hashtags are free. #Monsterdon is a shared experience of watching a movie with the fediverse.
@electricbraindump Sounds like you're in the right place. Welcome! The movie starts soon!

@electricbraindump I think you could do something with slow fashion, crochet and snails!

Welcome ;)

@electricbraindump welcome.

Snails? I think you will be fun to follow. 🙃

@electricbraindump nice to meet you, so… what are your favorite human rights? Just joking!

A few years back they discovered a new species of snail in the Philippines. They are really small. I was lucky to come across a few of them when I was hiking a year or two ago.
