@metin No track ball.
@troy_s 😊 I first completed the Amiga version using a mouse. Once that was done, completing it using the 8-directional digital joystick became the next challenge. πŸ™‚

@metin Please tell me you played the arcade console version though? It feels like a crying shame that something that was clearly developed with the visceral control ended up being such a different experience, albeit fun obviously.

It reminds me of the history of how the designers of Zelda focused on the β€œfeel” of the sword.

@troy_s To my regret I haven't been able to play the original arcade version. I would have loved to, but I've never encountered the cabinet in a Dutch arcade hall. πŸ™

I can totally imagine the arcade cabinet's trackball was the perfect controller.

@troy_s 😁😁😁

@metin It is incredibly hard to explain, but you should see if a collector has one.

The β€œfeel” of the way they designed the trackball to respond to the inertial mechanics of the depicted marble was something that really pushed that game into the zeitgeist of the time. Truly a marvel of designing a game to a control that arguably the Wii rekindled.

I loved the isometric graphics as well. Very skillfully crafted pixel art that could almost be mistaken for rendered 3D graphics. πŸ‘Œ

Watch out for other inhabitants that try to slow you down or bump you off – the marble munchers, the steelie, the vacuum, etc. On the β€œsilly level” almost all of the rules are reversed. Each level has its own audio score.

@troy_s Whoa, haha. That's out of my budget. πŸ˜…πŸ˜… But if I was rich, this would be the first arcade cabinet I'd buy, alongside the hydraulic Out Run cabinet. πŸ’š
@metin I feel that I missed out on so much back then the only one I know and played was the pinball one, which I really liked.
