"Donald Trump is lost in his fog of war. ...

The belief that coherent sense can be made out of Trump’s shuffling words is a weakness of the rational mind that refuses to accept the impulses of the inveterate demagogue for what they are."

Trump faces a ‘personal Vietnam’ in Iran

He is stuck in a quagmire. His goals are elusive. His bombing does not force a surrender. He has no exit strategy. Good morning, Vietnam

Trump wages war on Iran his own way: commander-in-chaos

Erratic rhetoric, shifting goals and mixed signals leave allies, foes and voters unsure what the president wants from war

The Guardian

"The confusing answer at a press conference in Doral, Florida this week did not befit a wartime leader armed with stirring rhetoric and a lucid plan. ... as the conflict with Iran enters its third week, impacting nearly every corner of the Middle East and causing economic tremors around the world, Trump has emerged as America’s commander-in-chaos."

"The picture of the shoes did it for me. Just look at this group of clowns. They’re clowns performing for a ringmaster. Supposedly Trump would just guess their shoe sizes. And if he guessed the wrong size, they didn’t have enough courage to actually get a pair of shoes that fit. They’re wearing shoes because Trump guessed the wrong size. That is a sign of mental illness, I think."

"WaPo: 'The Trump admin temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil shipments in an effort to calm markets and stem the economic fallout from its war on Iran, which has sent crude prices spiraling upward. "Pope Leo suggested on Friday that Christian political leaders who start wars should go to confession & assess whether they are following the teachings ‌of Jesus, without naming any specific leaders or conflicts.

'Do those Christians who bear grave responsibility in armed conflicts have the humility & courage to make a serious examination of conscience and to go to confession?' the pope asked in a speech to priests."

@wdlindsy

Is there "confession" among any other church than Catholic ?

How many Catholics in the government? 🤔

@RainbowFrog Yes, there's confession in other churches. Anglicans have a rite of public confession beginning their eucharistic liturgies. As practiced by Catholics now — a person confessing sins in private to a priest — the ritual used in the Catholic church is historically developed and not immutable, if Catholic officials would only be willing to permit it to be adapted. But fundamental to Christianity is the notion that we have an obligation to confess our sins in some form or other.

@wdlindsy
Ok, thanks. I always thought that Catholics were the only ones practicing confession, at least in the way the Pope referred to 🤔

A serious examination of conscience seems essential... But I have difficulties imagining people like SoD doing it...

For DJT, it seems useless, since he hasn't got one 😏
