He can rightly claim that the US has never had a president like him before. One who is so openly criminal... Unbelievable!
@ErikJonker Is it just me or is this something no one needs to buy?
Even if you're BP or Shell or whatever if a tanker or two of yours gets blown up, the US Navy is *still* going to shuttle you through the Strait of Hormuz and it'll be considered a national emergency if any more than a couple of those tankers get taken out.

From what I gather, this is less a case of protection money, and more the US government having to offer insurance coverage because the usual maritime insurance providers do not want to touch it because the risk is too great.
That said, this feels very throw-together and who knows if it will actually materialize as actual coverage.

You know. Socialism for the investment but capitalism for the consumer. That old chestnut.
When the inner monolog is broken:
MY GOODNESS WHATEVER WOULD CAUSE A PERSON TO THINK THAT I WONDER? /s
For the last eighty years, the U.S.Navy has ensured free ocean transit everywhere in the world (save the Houthi missiles and Yemeni pirates).
#Trump has ended all that. Naval escorts will soon be needed in the South China Sea and the Malacca Strait.
@Stinson_108 @ErikJonker @geopolitics
So in other words, this is just a giant bullshit for domestic consumption grift.
@ErikJonker Well. His Gulf State vassals get 80% of their food through that strait, so he better be the ace up their sleeve..
But I know who’s going to pay the claims for those insurances, and it’s not the Trump family!
@ErikJonker “Dat’s a mighty nice stable world order ya got there. It would be a shame if something… happened to it…”
