Using the Dwingeloo radio telescope (which predates spaceflight!) we are tracking the carrier frequency of #Artemis II. Maneuvers cause slight changes in that frequency. We annotated the timestamps of Day 1's proximity operations demonstration and we are measuring velocity changes of just a few m/s!

C'est quand même très cool.

Fear and laziness, I guess.

If I was on Artemis I'd spend the 40 minute radio blackout rigging all the clocks, logs, instrumentts etc to show that 6 hours had passed, then refuse to comment on what I'd seen on the far side.
This is probably why I'm not allowed on the Artemis.
Famous quotes from NASA mission comms:
- Apollo 11: "The Eagle has landed"
- Apollo 13: "Houston, we have a problem"
- Artemis 2: "We are still updating Outlook so everything but email is go"

As an almost 70 year old man, I have some advice for young men.

Please boost this if you think it will help

1. Your voice doesn't need to be heard. In fact, realizing that you don’t HAVE to have an opinion on everything and voice opinions or ideas in meetings or social gatherings, is amazingly liberating. You can actually just shut up, and relieve yourself of all that effort and stress. Let Bob utter his embarrassingly dumb idea, let Shirley have a say. You can just let it be for the most part

Hot take: The Artemis livestream is a damning indictment of modern computing devices. It seems like half the radio chatter is troubleshooting email delivery problems, confusing user interfaces, or devices not booting or connecting. Literal astronauts with years of training can’t make our stuff work.
