@Tutanota please mention more alternative options even for android also.
@Tutanota PLEASE remove Brave. It's not a browser which should be recommended to anyone for any purpose.

Stop using Brave Browser

Seriously.

The Spacebar
@RandamuMaki @Tutanota Yeah the second they started peddling crypto I knew.
@oneloop @RandamuMaki Thanks for your feedback, will consider it when updating!

@RandamuMaki @Tutanota
Ignore the homophobia.

Brave is an elaborate scam designed to pump ads. It's not obvious but it also is not hidden.

Use your eyes, brave is just another fucked up chromium fork.

@TrimTab @Tutanota Never ignore the homophobia. Never ignore racism or discrimination of any kind.

@Tutanota Filen for Cloud storage
@Tutanota
Y'all and #LibreOffice all the way.
@Tourma @Tutanota There is even @CollaboraOffice now, with a more modern look and more similar to what MS Officers looks like these days.

@Tutanota

Proton Calendar, but no Drive, Mail or Pass? Odd.

Also, missing Filen for storage, which is an excellent option.

At least I can see Kagi in there as Search & Translate options!

But other than that, you've got one massive gaping hole in the entire thing: Operating System.

Obviously Linux would be the main go-to there.

We need to talk... about the Proton ecosystem

YouTube

@ambiguous_yelp

Funnily enough that's why I've recommended Filen as well. I'm diversifying my reliance on any one provider, so while I've been all-in on Proton for a few years now, for diversity's sake I'm spreading my digital footprint over multiple suppliers.

But they are a viable option nonetheless for most of the aforementioned services.

@Sar @Tutanota odd? Not so for Tuta. Filen is so affordable that it will be a hard competitor to the future Tuta Drive.

Proton Calendar is either a mishap, or a product they deem less of a threat to their own Tuta Calendar. The other Proton products are more feature rich than what Tuta provides, so much more of a challenging competition.

Which is why I consider Tuta's privacy awareness efforts dishonest and misleading. It is purely a cynical marketing campaign trying to make Tuta better than it really is. Don't fall for it.

@Tutanota
Great list, but you should consider mentioning CoMaps alongside Organics Maps!
@Tutanota M̶i̶c̶r̶o̶s̶o̶f̶t̶ Linux 🤗🐧
@Tutanota Just install #Linux and use the Package Installer built into Linux to find what you need. $0 and great software. Libre Office suite is just one in a huge selection.

@drdusty Such tips doesn't fit well for Tuta's guerilla marketing strategies. They only promote stuff which brings them users.

Also notice how many real end-to-end encrypted and privacy aware services are MISSING from their list of recommendations ... They don't mention anything they know is more feature rich or user friendly compared to their own servicss.

This is why I generally find Tuta being quite dishonest through their privacy awareness efforts. It is extremely biased towards themselves.

@Tutanota if we switch mail, calendar, file storage, etc. from M$ to other companies like proton or even you Tutanota, aren't we just switching vendor lock-in from one to another?
@LonelySettler @Tutanota This isn't true for email. As long as you own the domain, and the email provider lets you export your emails, you can just move.
@oneloop @LonelySettler Correct. Plus, we're making exporting etc super easy to not lock you in.
@Tutanota I mean single applications is nice for the private person but if you could link tuta mail with tuta calendar and add a chat app for meetings and company schedules with tasking options and grouping options, then you could maybe replace the Microsoft teams outlook environment? I believe @nextcloud has something like this but similar pricing to Microsoft or higher.
@MBEverding hi! Nextcloud Hub is free and open source. You can use Nextcloud Mail, Calendar and Talk (chat and meetings), together with other apps for free. But of course, Nextcloud Enterprise offering is available when you need extra confidence for a critical setup.
@nextcloud yes enterprise I meant since where I work I tried to suggest moving away from our American software dependence. But it was shot down by IT. It would help if you list prices for all products including research and education institutes and get some subsidies from the digitalization ministry to make things cheaper for "security and software independence"
@Tutanota Tuta Drive 🤗
@furkano Stay tuned!!! 🎉
@Tutanota with regard to customization, functionality and (even) ease of use many are an improvement over Microsoft.
@Tutanota for email I also recommend Posteo.com, it's cheap and good option.
And if you must use Office better option is buying a lifetime licence instead of 365.
@Tutanota @benroyce Unfortunately our sales people have to receive and send PowerPoint documents with ad agencies. We can't risk that PowerPoint compatible files will suffice. On a rare basis we get Excel spreadsheets from vendors that will only work in Excel, but those are rare enough that we could have a designated Excel user.
@Tutanota
Are the "15 extra email addresses" in the Revolutionary tier actual addresses (as in separated from the main one), or aliases for the main address the subscription is for?
(Does my question even make sense? 🙈)
@Tutanota LibreOffice on PC, open documents for android, android is lacking big time in this category, but on libreoffice is more than enough on pc.
@Tutanota use case is a big deal. Sometimes is hard to sell your company anything besides GWS. But #NextCloud if you can push it. If you need no cloud, even better! #LibreOffice all the way! And I've become the dork who pays for my email with #Fastmail, but I love the masked emails feature, and hoping to adopt #JMAP soon!
@thecyberwitch @Tutanota Paying for email is totes worth it. I can’t recommend #Fastmail enough!
@Tutanota That chart is missing Windows.
@Tutanota
Glad to see you had Zen Browser.
But you should replace Organic Map by CoMaps (@CoMaps).

#abiword is more like word used to be in the 90s what more could anyone ask?
Unless you are a pro-publisher typesetter. Even libreoffice makes me dizzy .. too many options too long to discover what they do and remember where/how to use them.

Otherwise I get by with nino and ml daily

@Tutanota

@Tutanota Thanks for sharing those "Translate" AGPLv3 tools , interesting!

What will be the license for Tuta Drive by the way?

That being said, #Microsoft tools are beyond awful. How come this company is still a thing? It's ridiculous 😄

#FreeAndOpenSource #Privacy #Alternative #Internet #Linux #Translation #Deepl #ML

@turbobob We haven't decided on pricing, yet, will get the beta out first. Stay tuned!
@Tutanota Anyone has experience with Zen browser ?
@dadinek @Tutanota can't live without it. Workspaces and containers (this is just a firefox feature) are the dream
@Tutanota LibreOffice + Thunderbird mail.
@Tutanota Notesnook privacy email address does not work after attempting to use the address to delete an account. Unable to delete an account through their UI and after finally getting in touch with their support email they claim the account does not exist? All very odd.
@Tutanota Is there a timeline for the launch of Tuta Drive? Could you also provide some details about pricing and how it can be used with Tuta Mail?
@prozherin We don't have these details yet, we plan to release next year, but can't give an exact ETA right now.
@Tutanota might be a good idea to remove ff? I heard something bout the current ceo wanting to remove manifest v2 support
@Tutanota I would be interested in hearing about ones that are accessible to the visually impaired as well.
