This is how real the war is in Europe:

Denmark has called up its young women for mandatory military training and is now in the process of expanding it's navy with

— 6 additional armed frigates for The Danish Navy
— 5 Arctic patrol ships
— 21 patrol ships for The Marine Home Guard
— 4 sea surveillance ships with sea mine laying capability
— 1 underwater surveillance vessel
— underwater drones

This is in a country of just 5.9 million.

@randahl
🙏 You’ve probably seen the latest news from Kyiv. 9 dead, 70 injured, still looking for 2 kids. I hope Europe steps up to stop the war in Ukraine, so Denmark’s preparations for war don’t have to be put to practical use. 💔
@djembro @randahl And Denmark is not getting prepared just because of Russia, but because of that lunatic in the White House. The one that has set his eyes on Greenland.
@randahl in the #netherlands politics is it delay delay delay oh, mayby we must call young men to military training. A lonely opposition party whispers. #russia whats the danger.
@muzicofiel but you sent 24 F-16s to Ukraine, and that is formidable.
@randahl I say, as a half-baked Norwegian in America who doesn't care for it...GOOD. Our military is filled with testerone filled idiots who have guns and small dicks. I'd love to see alot of them get their asses kicked by Danish women!
@randahl
Extremely minor public service announcement: It is now correct to say that Denmark has 6.0 million inhabitants. The current number is 5'998'205.

@randahl Is there any debate in Denmark around canceling those expensive “stealth” F-35s and buying European instead? Now that there’s no longer a reason to appease the US you’d get a lot more bang for the bucks that way.

And if the threat of a direct or indirect “kill switch” isn’t bad enough, the moment Trump approve F-35 sale to India, Russia will have every single secret worth knowing about them.

@denspier there is, but Denmark entered the F-35 purchasing process already in 2016, and somewhere around half of the 27 planes are already in use.
@randahl @denspier that still leaves somewhere around half of 27 to be canceled & Saabs to be bought instead ;-)
@randahl America will regret giving up its preeminent position as the world’s police force. Though maybe the rest of the world will end up more comfortable as a result.
@KimSJ @randahl A realignment is long overdue. There is (was) far too much power invested in what often amounted to a rogue state.
@BonehouseWasps @randahl
Agreed, but how weird that the realignment has been triggered by America itself.

@KimSJ @randahl I'm no historian but I suspect future histories will conclude there was no other way it could happen. The US war machine made its overthrow virtually impossible.

And the fact that every 4-8 years they are intent on electing complete headcases, even during wartime, means that as a partner they're completely unreliable.

Start a war with a Biden alongside you may finish it with a Trump. Ask Hiroshima how that goes.

Iraq would likely be glass if 911 had happened under Trump.

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl as an Israeli I agree, a lot.

It was and still is clear, that the United States are unstable. For years now, especially since Trump was elected, people joked a lot about an American rebellion. It just seemed so inevitable.

Especially since Obama restricted funds usage to American soil, Israel started reducing reliance on America, in favour of Europe—we even tried ascending to the union, but Netanjahu spread propaganda that Europe is Muslim, and antisemitic...

1

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl ...although Europe was at the time less muslim and less antisemitic, the latter still incredibly true today, and I'm pretty sure the former is as well.

Before Oct. 7th and starting again 20 days ago or so, American Jews were viewed as endangered, as in, personally—it is just so very clear that America will one day turn on us.

But we simply couldn't break the alliance, until now.

2

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl first there's Netanjahu; he's sponsored by American organisations (that should not be legal) in addition to his Qatari corruption.

But second there was the Iraq war, the American protectorate in Kurdistan, the Afghanistan wars, and so many other middle easern wars and territories we could not make an enemy of.

An third, Obama's restrictions forced Israel to move weapon production to America.

3

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl Israel is now rebuilding its entire defense industry precisely because of America's lack of reliability, despite Netanjahu's corruption and links with them: when the Ukraine war started, the United States didn't pay for new weaponry; no, it reallocated the weapons it stored in Israel, meant to deter the Hamas.

Consequently, Hamas attacked, and Israel now went fuck you and is in the process of removing reliance on American aid completey.

4

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl

We're in fact in a pretty important crossroad right now: Netanjahu is more hated than ever, Hamas is the weakest it has been since 2018, and America is collapsing.

Ascending to the European Union and joining a European defense pact is only limited by one, singular thing: Palestine.

5

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl

It was extremely difficult to get the process of detaching from the US to even *start*; But completing it is going to be even harder, as it necessitates an alliance with the EU, which requires peace.

The two-state solution is impossible now: Jerusalem cannot be international area, as the United Nations de facto does not exist anymore (Europe cannot maintain it alone) nor do Israelis nor Palestinians trust it.

6

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl

But the problem with a one state solution is again America.

Trump wants to conquer Gaza. My theory is that he's aiming for the Suez canal; and obviously, when (and hopefully if) the United States go full Nazi—Palestinians will be expelled my ass, more like a Holocaust—the states will invade Israel, that way they can exterminate the 16 million all at once this time around, and add to that the non-Jewish Canaanites as a bonus, why not.

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl

And Netanjahu, as does a traitor, has managed to purposefully spread the concept of an American Gaza as an alternative, which means before any real progress can be made, we have to wait for America to become more and more hostile to Jews, as otherwise any idea of moving to the much more stable and democratic European influence will be impossible ("look what Trump is doing for us" kinda bs).

So yes, the only ones who can end America are America.

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl (rationale: Palestinians won't agree to *anything* as long as the Gaza strip would he held by anyone but a democratic Palestinian state/authority)
@lax @KimSJ @randahl There's a lot to take in there but thank you for the context. 😊

@BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl sure!

Lemme know if you wanna know anything about Israeli Palestinian politics—pretty much every single news source complains about the mainstream and claims that what *it* says is true—and by saying this, me included, lol.

@lax @BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl ascending to a European Union membership is also limited by Israel not being in Europe (see the failed Moroccan bid in 1987)

@Ash_Crow @BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl that's nonsense: cyprus isn't in Europe as well. Morocco wasn't accepted due to politics, flat out.

Besides, Israel shares European culture and history. It's the origin of christianity and Abrahamic religions as a whole, was invaded by European empires constantly (philistines, greek, rome, ottomans, UK), the origin of all european alphabets, major trade partner with greece (i.e. BC), where western civilization originated...

@Ash_Crow @BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl

Besides, if Israel joined the EU, the European migrant crisis will be over, as hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees would simply gain European citizenship, which will enable them to move freely, to their homeland, or to any other European country, spreading the stress on culture and the economy neatly.

It's a win-win situation.

@Ash_Crow @BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl sorry for infodumping, but the "but it's not in Europe" is simply an excuse for "we don't want to give you veto power but can't switch to direct democracy because of hungary"

And the migrant crisis I am talking about is a cultural one, where countries who previously could have their cake and eat it too—e.g. france—benefitted from in this example state religion separation, but now that they actually have another religion that does things differently...

@Ash_Crow @BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl ...there are disagreements. And those disagreements will become a lot more civil if the Israeli Palestinian conflict ended, in a lot of ways.

The economical migrant crisis is very temporary imo.

@lax @BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl that is false, it was rejected on the basis of the Article 237 of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community (currently it would be article 49 of the TEU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copenhagen_criteria#Geographic_criteria )
Copenhagen criteria - Wikipedia

@Ash_Crow @BonehouseWasps @KimSJ @randahl articles can be changed. Law is merely a tool. In this case, to prevent the enlargement of a European Union that isn't structured to be so culturally diverse.
@randahl sad that it is necessary. but well done for the level of seriousness you're treating it.
@randahl Denmark is a country worth fighting for, I can't say the same about the UK 😅

@randahl this reminds me of a movie/show scene where it was said that the only thing that US had to do to beat USSR was to start money spending race. USSR broke up when it had no money left.

Accuracy of that scene aside, I feel that just because of statements of 1 person, another country has to prioritise militarisation and spend less on other productive things they could have done instead.

Just to be clear, I am blaming the person, not the country.

@randahl

Reminds me more and more of the 1930s…

However: Si vis pacem, para bellum…

@randahl I’m so sorry and as someone from the U.S.A. , I condemn Trump, Elon Musk, and the rest of the GOP government that is causing this. It’s so sad and ridiculous. Plus that affects the economy there. Forcing women into the military is a huge factor. Probably doesn’t hurt to order patrol ships. Those are nice to have no matter what.
@randahl It's great that the (uk) Royal Navy is getting new destroyers, frigates and fleet submarines but I'm frustrated that the government has pissed away so much money on oversized carriers, the F-35B and Trident.
@randahl What's new? Denmark has always been militaristic. It was an enthusiastic participant in the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is somewhat different of course because it's justifiably responding to a real threat against Greenland.
@randahl
I do wonder how much these expansions are being coordinated with allied neighbours. I hope they are coordinating.
But I'm also thinking the public doesn't need to be shown how that coordination is being done. If we find out in 30-40 years, that's cool.
@Gurre they certainly are coordinated. NATO in Europe has a wish list for capacities, and member countries are offering to provide those capacities. For instance, I think the reason Denmark has no submarines is because Sweden has 5.

@randahl

If NATO is dismantled by Trump, this can get a LOT more serious too:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_nuclear_weapons_program

"Sweden was strongly influenced to abandon its nuclear weapons program by (security guarantees from) the United States."

Without security guarantees, more smaller countries may get their own nukes as they are perceived as a way to deter invasions by larger neighbours (i.e. Russia etc). The world would get a lot more dangerous.

@randahl

I wonder how well Canada is prepared for guerrilla warfare.

It's possible that our next war will be against American imperialists.

@AnnaAnthro

@randahl Denmark hasn't forgotten being occupied by Nazis. Not gonna let that happen again!
@LillyHerself but if the Russians invade, we meet at the Ravning bridge at midnight to coordinate. ⚔️
@randahl I'm wondering now if this whole bit is about getting countries to buy more war machinery.
@randahl Well, if Danish spec ops could manage to infiltrate the White House and capture the Mango Moron, that’d be cool! And if the Danes invade the USA - Americans will get great social services and healthcare! 😉
