The central bank of Denmark, Nationalbanken, today announced its new offline payment system which means Danes will be able to pay digitally at the store — even when the internet is down.
This means both credit card payments and cellphone payments go through at the counter up to 7 days into an internet breakdown, because of a new technological solution which is being rolled out at grocery stores first.
Pharmacies will be added to the system later this year.

Péter Magyar and his Tisza Party has won the Hungarian election 137 to 55, which gives Tisza a two-thirds majority — enough to make constitutional changes and reform the country.
Hungarians chose democracy over dictatorship.

Tonight I am very hopeful for the future. Orbán's loss in Hungary is removing a big splinter from EU's hands. Now we can get to work, give Ukraine the support they deserve, and defeat Putin in Ukraine.

Scottish-Tasmanian Math Professor and father of Queen Mary of Denmark, Mr. John Dalgleish Donaldson has died.
As a Dane, I was extremely pleased to see how kindly he was received by the Danish people, when his daughter married the now King of Denmark, Frederik 10.
In the 2000s, Mr. Donaldson lectured at the universities of both Aarhus and Copenhagen.
He died in his hometown Hobart, in the Australian island state of Tasmania, 84 years old.
May this kind man rest in peace.
