I feel like it could also be a fear of reprisal. Someone I know responds as if their trauma is triggered when I ask if they accept that they can be wrong: full-on deer in the headlights frozen and terrified. That isn't their fault, nor the inciting trauma, obv, but I do need them to accept that their choice to avoid therapy to grow past it IS the problem in our relationship.
That's encouraging.
I see it as when you overflow with love in the moment with nowhere for it to go. You're showing care for yourself by choosing to hope for better circumstances in the future. You're also acknowledging facets of your self (yes, space intentional) instead of pushing them away.
