TBH, I think #KolibriOS is really cool, abeit unlike @OS1337 it's not #Linux based (but still cool tho!)...
- Still, it's pretty cool to see other #minimalist #OperatingSystems that try to work on the #1440kB limit!

Granted, @OS1337 has a different target mission, which is to be a #KISS-principled, easy to build, extent and adapt basis for #Firmware and #Embedded Systems...
Or to power some #security-focussed #EmbeddedSystems where having #ReproduceableBuilds is part of the #transparency culture I aim for.
OFC nothing prevents one from using @OS1337 's basic #toybox + #musl / #Linux basis to generate a #smol and efficient #Linux #Desktop or general-purpose Server distro.
Needless to say thanks to @landley for his extensive talks and #documentation to make it quite easy to get started...

At the very least I want @OS1337 to support #dropbear as #SSH #client so one can use it as a amnesiaic, anti-forensics #RAMdisk - only SSH-#Terminal to connect to other machines.
Like a reinterpretation of classic terminals like the #VT520 series from DEC...
Digital Equipment Corporation built plenty of terminals in the 70s and 80s, but we're focusing on the VT320-C2. Amber monochrome, LK201 keyboard, and a favor...
Or as a #minimalist #firmware one could chug on a #Pi0 / #Pi0W inside a VT-69 from @violenceworks to turn it into a #SSH-#Terminal...

So yes, my mission goals for @OS1337 hasn't changed in that I want it to be a #useable #SSH #terminal on a #1440kB #FDD image and having the option to expand from there on...
/home/ directory is a way to go - espechally when said drive is a fully-encrypted #Network-based #BlockStorage...TBH, I think #KolibriOS is really cool, abeit unlike @OS1337 it's not #Linux based (but still cool tho!)... - Still, it's pretty cool to see other #minimalist #OperatingSystems that try to work on the #1440kB limit! Attached: 1 image Thanks to a donation by @[email protected], I've been able to test @OS1337 on a real #EeePC701-4G and so far this seems to have only some minor hiccups. - OFC I've first ran into the #137GB barrier with the #BIOS when booting my regular #Vendoy drive but then again at the time the #EeePC was released, 240GB SSDs were unobtanium and would've costed propably more than a dozen 701-4G's retail...
Tho I can tell from testing first builds of @OS1337 I can assure you it'll not be as fast as the Tandy 1000RL booting #MSDOS from #ROM but that's solely due to the fact that more modern architectures like #i486 have way more stuff going on than the #i086...
