It's just that "#AlwaysOnlineDRM" is more of a malware and hinderance than anything.
- #CCSS vendors / publishers should not haggle me post-payment/installation, for it is none of their business how, when and where and what for I use their Software.
- Their interests have to cease at the initial, one-time-only license check.
With #FLOSS this issue just doesn't exist. Worst-case a distro like #Debian will remind me to 'please get some updates' but not only can I tell it to 'shut up, and never ask me again' but I can even update it as an airgapped system from a burned disc, external drive or NAS.
- And believe me, folks like @fuchsiii who were stuck on #56k until the 2010s already faced that problem.
Similarly, I think #FrugalComputing has it's merits and I'd love to see more things like @violenceworks 's #VT69 terminal…
- Maybe something with like a #RaspberryPi, keyboard and an #eInk screen…
