The currently stil popular XFCE is based on CDE, what is not really recognisable since XFCE 4, but XFCE 3 came real close to CDE. NB: XFCE4 is still able to resemble CDE

keith@nixCraft used CDE on Solaris for years. mostly with a dark purple theme rocking a 24" monitor (that weighed a ton and made my office hot). had the huge procmail filter file tied in just right to xbiff. good times.

excited for the mastodon rise@nixCraft mostly for anyone who sees this and thinks all Linux people are crazy, I've been a Linux user at home for almost 20 years now and I don't see the appeal of this kinda GUI.
You have to work to make your desktop look this bad.
( For the rest of you, yes I know tiling window managers are useful)

cryptax@nixCraft I still use FVWM daily by the way. The look and feel is a bit more modern, but configuration file hasn't changed much.
