These last few days, I've looked a lot at various issues for graphics tablets on Linux, which made me have very informative discussions with @whot. 💬

There is quite some data to digest, but that could lead to interesting enhancements in graphics tablet configuration after @GIMP 3.2 is released… 🤔

Thanks for all the great answers to my naive questions! 🤗

libinput 1.29 will support remapping of eraser buttons on tablet tools. Happy times.

This is, to some degree, a followup to this 2014 post . The TLDR of that is that, many a moon ago, the corporate overlords at Microsoft that...

GIMP - GIMP 3.2 RC2: Second Release Candidate for GIMP 3.2

Release news for version GIMP 3.2 RC2

For the final EP cover I put the artist and title text on separately using @GIMP as it was too blurry from the CRT rescan.

Overall I'm really happy with how it all turned out and I enjoyed the multi-part process of making it!

You should definitely go support @celesteh and buy his EP! https://charleshutchins.bandcamp.com/album/basic-waveforms

Congrats to @CmykStudent (Alx Sa) for their "Outstanding New Free Software Contributor" award! 🍾🎉

I've been using the open source image processing tool, GIMP, as part of my work for many years 👍

So it was an honour to be asked to create a splash screen for the latest version release candidate, GIMP-3.2RC1 🙇‍♂️

Thanks to Jehan, GIMP project maintainer, & David Tschumperlé, project manager for the G'MIC plugins, for the conversations that led to the invitation 👏

And yes, the main release GIMP-3.2 will feature another of my JWST images (you can probably guess which 😉).

While reading the PSD specification, I saw that GIMP already has code to support importing several types of Adjustment Layers.
I did a quick test with connecting the Threshold, Posterize, and Invert code to our PSD plug-in, and it seemed to work well!

Hue/Saturation, Levels, and Curves should also be easy enough to add support for, since we already support PSD presets for those filters.

Save the date: 2026-04-22 to 2026-04-25 LGM 2026 Nuremberg, Germany

Hello everyone,

we have a fixed venue and date for LGM 2026 in Nuremberg, Germany:

Wednesday, April 22nd to Saturday, April 25th, 2026. The event will be hosted at Zollhof (https://zollhof.de/).

We are now preparing the call for participation and the website, and will let you know about any updates.

Here's a heads-up: this time of the year is super busy for everyone, hence, we plan to make a soft start of the communication (website, call for participation, etc.) and launch the visual design of the edition a bit later in the process. But for now, it's important that you start sharing the date and mark it in your calendars!

Cheers, Lasse
