The sadness of a #CyberTruck owner.
"Days after launch, you sit at a red light. The novelty is gone, you aren't any happier. Maybe it's your imagination but the gaps in the door looks off. You think you saw a car full of teens laughing at you earlier. You're now 100k debt for a meme, and you feel nothing."
@spocko Poor thing. Poor, poor thing.
@spocko It literally looks like a kid drew it.
@kimlockhartga @spocko Or a stereotypical Bond villain high as a kite and doodling on a beer coaster while doing a podcast with some racist POS. #Musk

@kimlockhartga @spocko

I think an Assyrian clay tablet has a picture of one since that's all they could really draw with their triangular papyrus quills.

@spocko
And you cannot even fit a bicycle in the back...
@n1xnx @spocko I’m actually excited for the first time I pass one stuck in traffic on my bicycle lol
@spocko And then you look out of the window and discover the world has actually flipped to a mirror image of what it was before. You realise that you've been abducted into Elon's World
@ecoscore @spocko Foreboding analog synth music.
@spocko However, Elon's clever idea of the optical field reverser to confuse the paparazzi chasing your Cybertrkey is on point. They will never be able to track you with all the mirror-image signage.
@spocko I can feel emotionally empty without paying the 100k.
@Meowthias @spocko I somewhat enjoy that feeling

@spocko

I take a positive view of the situation.

(Of course the following is a dramatic script only and would be illegal in real life. Just say "No" to scrapping brand new #CubbieTruckies.)

Marj: That discretionary purchase is chock full of 4680 lithium batteries!
Very very good for ebikes.

Mike: A metalised Mylar tarp over the truckie to Faraday shield the radiowaves then into a covered trailer, off to a Faradayed workshop and then cut it up and gut it!

@skua @spocko It has a 240 volt outlet, a 100 KWh capacity, and can provide something like 10 KW. If nothing else it makes a heck of a backup generator.

@spocko

Marj and Mike are headed down the wrong road (probably) - info in the following thread suggests those 4680 batteries might be bonded together and not re-usable in ebikes!

@spocko The big line behind the truck is where you're supposed to stop at a red light...
@StarkRG @spocko Oh, I just assumed it was so ugly they'd taught it to drive backwards.
@nickzoic @StarkRG @spocko for some weird unknown reason, whoever created this meme from the original post and pic made it black-and-white and reversed it, but also Elon made them look like they're always driving backwards so who knows?
@alexch @StarkRG @spocko Yeah, I'm kind of riffing on a saying we have here: "if my dog was that ugly, I'd shave his arse and teach him to walk backwards". Seems appropriate.
@spocko
Oh my, it looks even worse on the street.
#Cybertruck
@spocko The Cybertruck is Elon Musk's attempt to feel less lonely by making thousands of other people feel the same regretful, post-acquisition disappointment hangover he did the day after buying Twitter.
Interesting I was thinking today about his real goal versus what people think is / was his goal. One of the things that we know is in Silicon Valley is VCs plan to not make money right away. They have a "burn rate" until a sale, going public or make a profit by itself. The VCs fund 20 companies in order to get 1 big one. But if your goal isn't making money, you can say that you are succeeding even though you're losing money.

@spocko

I think behind most decisions is emotion, and little thinking.

Thinking is layered on top to help justify an underlying emotional decision.

Maybe he was obsessed with the app and his popularity on it was one of the only meaningful thing in his life. Maybe he was scared of being banned like Trump. Maybe a vague dream of reviving his original idea of Paypal being an online bank called X.

Then realizing he spent 1/5 of his networth on an impulse buy, he has to claw some $ back.

@vjprema I have lots of thoughts about "Why" but my current focus is, "What harm is he causing, and how can we stop it or minimize it." And I'm not just talking about the harm to brands, but to actual humans.
I've been talking about it since #ElonMusk bought #Twitter

@spocko @MattBinder Good stuff. Its good to see there are people out there actively taking actions.

I admit I personally I stopped using centrally controlled feeds, and filtered musk out of my personally controlled feeds (Mastodon, RSS), and encourage people to do the same if they are not really taking any real actions, because I know musk likes any attention and by giving him less its the next best thing. Its the number on eyes on him that allows some of his harm methods to work. Just IMO.

@msbellows
And of course, to race it to The ThunderDome.

@spocko

@spocko Absolutely astonishing how the sheep fall for the gimmicks and cons of the greedy and selfish.

@spocko

Perhaps the ugliest vehicle on the planet. Makes the Pontiac Aztec look like a Ferrari.

@spocko my grandma used to say there's beauty in everything. Not on this one granny, not on this one
@spocko I can’t fathom why anyone would buy that eyesore instead of a Rivian
@spocko It’s clearly headed away from its safe enclave in Piedmont (I know right where this is), and they’re gonna get a lot more laughter on the streets of Oakland.
@spocko
Oh Em Gee, that just made my day. Tah!
@spocko
Elno is pissed that he couldn't make it look like a p*nis.
@spocko It looks a bit like a metal cockroach.

@spocko

I want to make a Mastodon bot that posts "IT'S FUGLY!" on every single Cybertruck post.

@spocko I'd ask how much energy that needs, but then I'd get some nonsensical American answers like 517 elephant trunks per million hamsters running in a wheel or something
@spocko I still think the car looks cool you probably need cyberpunk clothes too maybe together with an Cyberpunk Edgerunners cosplay it goes together well

@Yaminosenshi @spocko
Now that you say it... it might be acceptable visually for Zlad.
But the price is stupid, so meh.

@spocko Am I wrong to feel superior while happily zipping along in my 2017 Chevy Bolt EV?

No, I am not. 😎

@spocko I think he wants it to fail. Or maybe Tesla is just clowning people. Hahaha.
@spocko How many Cybertruck windows will be smashed, just to see if it's possible, within the first month or so?

@spocko
Well, when the fun is over, just sell it...

Oh, wait, you can't even sell it without begging, cap in hand, to lord and master Musk for permission.

@spocko ...it won't just be teens laughing at you....!!
@spocko We get all the new teslas here in Charleston. I haven't seen this yet, but I'm sure they're out here somewhere

@spocko

Push the red button

@spocko I get this after almost every tech purchase, except for the mocking teens. I also don't spend 100k usd on gadgets.
@spocko @lisamelton Looks like my first time using Blender lmao

@spocko i have just now realized why the #cybertruck has been such a cringe for me since day one… and this may be a surprize: it reminds me oh so strongly of all those lame diy plywood «cars» they loved showing off on the soviet tv as genius inventions that would revolutionize «autoprom», only to never be heard of again (of course).

plywood. painted metallic.

@spocko I used to fantasize about designing an ultramodern vehicle when I was a kid too. Mine had spherical wheels held in place by a magnetic field.
@spocko still, at least they didn't pay $44 billion for a meme
@spocko The car that Homer Simpson designed.
@spocko Cybertruck could just as well have been an #NFT 😅
@spocko The car of the future, if the future looks like the original Star Fox.
