emojo. It would make a great icon for this feature. <3
@calvin It isn't showing up on my end. Maybe it's instance-specific or something?
I appreciate the effort though!
@calvin
Your instance is a "pleroma" instance which allows emoji reactions.
Mastodon reads them simply as a fav
@mxk @sebastianmalloy ah, okay, thanks. I know that Pleroma is like Mastodon Lite ™️, so I thought for sure Mastodon would have it.
I use such a feature all the time in the various chat apps that I use.
)@sebastianmalloy Aye. There are lots of things I read that I do NOT want to 'like' or 'favourite' and don't particularly want to boost, but nevertheless want to be able to say to the poster 'you have been heard'.
It would not be difficult, either from a software or a UX point of view, to have a range of simple responses.
@simon_brooke @sebastianmalloy
> want to be able to say to the poster 'you have been heard' <
Easy.
Just respond to the post using a private message containing an emoji such as 🙂 or 👍
@sebastianmalloy a star means all those things to me -
Appreciation of crafted works
Acknowledge that I read something
Sending a wishing star to a person who could need a wish
It's a person to person communication here. It's just me saying to someone, that I see them, feel with them or appreciate what they wrote .
All the misskey derivatives let you react with all kinds of emojis! ActivityPub counts all of them as a Like, but the misskeys at least show you what the reacts were.
firefish, and there's another derivative that I can't remember the name of.
that's called emoji ..
@AmyZenunim @sebastianmalloy akkoma (pleroma fork) has this as well.
Baseline pleroma has reacts but it limited to unicode emoji, with no instanc ecustom emoji
