The interior angle of the pizza slice emoji in the Apple emoji set 🍕is 48.5556º, implying that the pizza was cut into a very awkward 7.4 slices. (Or that somewhere there exists another 48º slice and two corresponding 41.4444º slices)
@Cdespinosa is this the part we ping someone in the HI design slack 🤪
@kangaroo5383 @Cdespinosa no this is the part we pray they don’t read too much Lovecraftian nightmare fuel before redesigning anything rdar://26274542
@arish LOL! I love a good radr link 🤣🤣🤣 wow.
@Cdespinosa
Local pizzeria here seems to cut slices to almost random radial sizes. This corresponds to my reality.
@Gregnee @Cdespinosa
Brought protractor with me for my 1st day working @ the pizza place. Was immediately fired.
@kelvin0mql @Cdespinosa
You’re saying your employment at the pizza place was “un-protracted”?
@Gregnee @Cdespinosa Yeah mine too, and the cuts are never on a diameter either, so some slices will be twice as big as others but it's all very random.
@Cdespinosa extremely happy to find you on mastodon, this is the kind of content I have missed
@katieonviolin I am glad to be reunited with you, and with Lebron James.
@Cdespinosa Someone should report this as #bug to them for not having chosen a symmetric amount like 60° [6 slices] or 45° [8 slices]...
@kkarhan @Cdespinosa It's not a bug, it's a feature. No one wants exactly the same size of slice; some people want larger slices, some smaller. So think of this as the big slice of an 8-slicer.
@Cdespinosa this implies straight line cuts
@Cdespinosa @burritojustice that’s every pizza I cut with a pizza wheel, basically.

@Cdespinosa @lisamelton I mean this in the very kindest way:

Nerd! 🤪

Also, I love it.

@Cdespinosa The existence of a 48.5556° slice only implies the existence of *one* other slice of the same angle; after all, we only have data for two of the cuts.
@Cdespinosa Further proof of this abomination
@Cdespinosa the slices are different sizes to reduce noise
@Cdespinosa this some Standup Maths content

@Cdespinosa

the Priory of Sion must change with the times

@Cdespinosa finally someone is willing to come out and say it

@Cdespinosa My dad taught me how to make a perfect 60º slice by measuring the radius with the knife, then laying it across the circumference to make an equilateral triangle.

He also could never refrain from making dad jokes about how it was pi/3 but pie/6.

@Cdespinosa

Nah, eight slices, but uneven slicing technique.

Art imitates life, and how come Billy always gets the bigger piece Mom? It isn't fair!

@Cdespinosa this is both the content we need and the content we deserve.
@Cdespinosa One option is that they aimed to minimize cutting pepperonis :)
@Cdespinosa That's okay, I'm all right with 0.4 of a pizza slice
@Cdespinosa Chris, do you have too much time on your hands?
@Cdespinosa This is the quality content I came to Mastodon for 🍕 👍
@Cdespinosa or like every pizza from dominoes, the slices range from 12° to 87°. On the same pizza
@Cdespinosa Please tell me there's a massive thread in Radar complaining about this like happened for the Bagel emoji.

@Cdespinosa In my experience, they're seldom ever cut to any precise angle.

Another pair of slices was probably well short of the 45° (maybe the 41.4444° you suggest).

@Cdespinosa Assuming that the pizza started as round.
@Cdespinosa Re: Pizza Slices
Unfamiliar with the 'Chef's Snack'?

@Cdespinosa I’m sure I’m late to the party and you or others beat me to it, but:

FB12555368

@Cdespinosa Let’s be honest, though—have you ever seen a perfectly cut pizza?

@drfancypantsesq @Cdespinosa

Exactly what I was thinking. A pizza machine cut to perfection probably has other issues.

@Cdespinosa would you like to give a talk on this important matter?
@Cdespinosa That's the quality imformation that I love about fedi 😄🤙
@Cdespinosa @marcoarment This is entirely consistent with my local pizza place's practices.
@Cdespinosa having seen how the pizzas in Caffe Macs get sliced during the lunch rush, I believe the latter
@Cdespinosa or it could be that OMG why am I replying to this
@Cdespinosa Inevitable irrelevant question but,... what program did you use? Some parametric CAD,... ?
@templatemaker Shapr3D on the iPad.
@Cdespinosa Thank you! I am glad I asked, because I never heard of it. It looks good, at first sight, and won't cost me an arm and leg.
