On the one hand it’s amazing how little time it takes to travel 250,000 miles to the Moon. Two solid weeks of supersonic air travel can be done in two days in space.
On the other hand the Moon is really really really close. Mars is seven to ten months from Earth when they’re close to each other, and that’s once every other year for a couple months.
Proxima Centauri is further. A one-way trip at Artemis speed would take 100,000 years, as long as it’s been since Homo sapiens left Africa.
Not great timing with #MARCHintosh having just ended, but I finally have the time and ability to work on restoring my 512k Mac.
(Go back in this thread to see what has happened so far.)
I’m going to replace all the capacitors on the analog board. First up is the blown RIFA:
OMFG… I just heard Mission Control tell Artemis II literally, “Everything but email is go”
LOLSOBBING MY ASS OFF NOW
Trump’s stupid, juvenile, expletive-ridden threat to blatantly commit even more war crimes (destroying civilian infrastructure) to me shows that Iran GOT HIM GOOD. The Hormuz Strait closure is hurting his political prospects, and there’s nothing he can do about it. He’s backed into a corner and begging for relief, and he’s yanking ever harder on the one and only lever the dimwit knows how to use (the one labelled “more bombs”).
I think the US has lost this war. Trump is now fighting entirely on Iran’s terms.
