#FPQuestion of the day:
Do you match your pens and inks—never, sometimes, or always? For matchy people, what are some of your top “made in heaven” matches?
#FountainPens #FountainPenInks
@penfount usually. However, my main pen is a clear demonstrator, so anything goes with it.
@penfount
Sorta. I tend to use my Iroshizuku inks (ku jaku & fuyu gaki - for now. I'm waiting for my new one, shin kai) on my Pilot Metropolitan and Lamy Safari. My Pilot fountain pen ink (black) for my Jinhao (x159 & x450).
@penfount To some extent yes, mostly so I can remember which color ink is in which pen. Purple pens tend to get purple ink. Turquoise pens tend to get green or peacock blue inks. My Kaweco Student pen has blue-black ink, because it seemed like a pen that wants a Very Serious color.
@penfount sometimes! A new favorite is Lamy Safari Light Rose + Robert Oster Pinky.
@penfount I like to match on NPD for fun but generally no. It’s just whatever ink I’m feeling at the moment or to serve a specific purpose.
@penfount I have a Pineider Avatar UR in Forest Green that just seems like a natural match for Diamine Aurora Borealis, and a brown Montblanc Slimline that I always ink with Waterman Absolute Brown.

@penfount YES, I love matches! Some currently inked bangers are:

Pilot 845 Jade with Colorverse Goryeo Celadon

Pilot 823 Fujiyama Blue with Diamine Soft Mint

A green Tamenuri Studios pen with Birmingham Pen Co Emerald Fusion

Sailor x Hachimonjiya jellyfish pen with Sailor Manyo Koke

Sailor x NBC Black Cat with Oblation Papers Portland Rain

@penfount I keep 10-15 #TWSBI Eco #fountainpens inked with matchy colors at all times… some currently inked ones are #Troublemaker Sea Glass - Eco Jade; #Diamine Peacock Flare - Eco Persian Green; #Wearingeul Star Spattered Hill - Eco Yellow opaque; J Herbin Kyanite to Nepal - Eco Cerulean.
@penfount #fpquestion #fountainpen #fountainpens I’m more about matching ink to mood or situation. I’m in Ireland this week, so I went with inks that match the trip (MB Irish Green, for example) in pens that love to travel (e.g., Pilot 823).
@penfount Generally I'll try to match them, but some pens don't always need it. I'll still try to make them complement each other, if possible. My best match at the moment is probably a Jihnao 82 in Baikal Blue with Diamine Celadon Cat. My Kaweco Bronze Sport with Octopus Fluids Bronze is a pretty close second, & Jinhao X159 Orange & Chrome with Diamine Deep Dark Orange in third.

@penfount sometimes. Sometimes I want matchy-matchy and sometimes I want like opposites.

@penfount I'm a sometimes. Admittedly I have used matching to justify buying a particular pen. But sometimes the color match doesn't make for optimal functional compatibility.

Current top matches:
Platinum Procyon Turquoise - Colorverse Morning Star (pics show it as more green than on paper),
Pilot 78G Green (Vintage) - Diamine Teal,
Hero 007 Burgundy - Diamine Writer's Blood,
Ensso Piuma Ultem - Diamine Louise,
Lamy AL Star Bronze - Diamine Autumn Oak

@penfount only if you consider that any colour will be a match to a black and gold pen.
@penfount love this question! I’m definitely a very matchy person (see here: https://www.youngw.ca/elenas-list-of-colour-coordinated-products/). One of my favourites was Lamy AL-star petrol with petrol coloured ink but sadly that ink supply ran out a long time ago.

I'm obsessed with colour coordinating. This post is a repository of ideas for colour coordinated product combinations from the YW Shop.

@penfount not always, but it's a match at the moment! I'm using a Pilot Non-Self Filling (with a cart, even if it defeats the purpose) and Pelikan Dunkelgrün which behaves well if the correct paper is used. I'm going for cheap Muji notebooks at the moment, which are FP-friendly. #FountainPens
@penfount I try to match my pens and ink, mainly because I need to keep track of the colours. Right now I have a Twsbi Eco blue pen with Diamine Shimmer Blue Pearl and an Eco green pen with Diamine Shimmer Magical Forest. I also have a Lamy turquoise barrel with Diamine Shimmer Starlit Sea. There seems to be a pattern here... I love shimmer inks!
@penfount I accidentally turned into a matchy. I have a heap of inks and used to generally match colour, but then found a couple of pens where I just keep refilling with the same ink (the horror!). Estie Maraschino with Colorverse Felicette glistening. Franklin-Christoph antique glass and cathedral with Diamine Golden Ivy, Just Turnings Ghost Koi with Diamine Lilac Satin. I am sure I will move on soon, but…I keep refilling, week after week…
