We just joined Mastodon, please follow us. Still more posts to come soon.
@gutenberg_org Yay! Glad to see you here, look forward to seeing your posts in my feed.

@gutenberg_org Please update your website's "Contact Us" page to say that this is an official Mastodon account (like it does for your Facebook and Twitter accounts). And preferably add a Mastodon verification link there too (so this account shows up to Mastodon users as being verified by gutenberg.org). Thank you!

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is a library of free eBooks.

Project Gutenberg
@rwv37 we really do need to make all theses changes. They will be fixed pretty soon, thanks for your concern.
@gutenberg_org can you do the verification thing with your bio?

@gutenberg_org Oh this makes me so happy!! Welcome welcome!

#JohnMastodon

@gutenberg_org

Mastodon is a natural place for your project, welcome!

@gutenberg_org welcome! 🎺
@TransitBiker @gutenberg_org please stop boosting as you are filling up followers lists.
@JohnLoader6 @TransitBiker @gutenberg_org It's their account and they can boost whatever they damned well like without rudeness like this. Turn off boosts from them if you don't like it.
@hughster @TransitBiker @gutenberg_org I want boosts from people I follow and I follow Gutenberg but boosting 20 or 30 times a post of no value devalues the boost.
@hughster @JohnLoader6 @gutenberg_org someone needs to adjust the notification settings. Boosting is legit half of mastodon.
Left Twitter for good or dabbling with the Fediverse? Welcome! πŸ™‚
@gutenberg_org Did follow BUT was hoping your bio said how often you would post. If you flood me, I will reconsider my follow.
@lauxmyth That's an important consideration for me too. Was going to follow @gutenberg_org but then I saw how frequent the posts were and backed off.
@lauravivanco @gutenberg_org I just looked. One day was lots. Anything highly of note will be boosted by others. Bots can be useful.
@gutenberg_org Welcome! Boosted and cannot wait to see you in my feed!
@gutenberg_org Welcome from a Project Gutenberg devotee from the age of Lynx and similar early web technologies.
@gutenberg_org welcome πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸΌπŸ€
@gutenberg_org
MastodonNetworkβ„’β„’ will be more correct
@gutenberg_org
Super cool site. Read the books & donate.

@gutenberg_org So glad to see you here. I've been trying to point people on Mastodon and Bookwyrm towards your fantastic resources. I'm mostly using it to slowly read the novels behind #operas, which would be a complicated adventure in print but is very simple through #projectgutenberg πŸ’– πŸ’–

#ReadingOpera

PS Some aren't tagged for the opera shelf. How can I recommend some for tagging there?

@gutenberg_org welcome! Would you like help adding alt-text to your image posts?

@gutenberg_org

Gutenberg's here. Put your Bibles out in solidarity!

@JohnLoader6 @gutenberg_org Well it sort of has to be Bibles because that's what old Johannes was printing.

Gutenberg's edition of 50 Shades of Grey has not survived.

@gutenberg_org there is no link or verification in your bio. Please add both.
@lithospheric we are under way for doing that

@gutenberg_org Welcome to the fedi!

Before getting too deep into a toot steam, perhaps give some thought to including ALT-text in your posting process for attached images.

What with text kinda being your whole raison d'Γͺtre...

[Also, you can edit already posted toots to add ALT-text.]

Blind users & others who benefit from ALT-text are a significant segment of the larger fediverse community. Many users here won't boost posts that don't include ALT-text, even if they're otherwise shareworthy.

@beadsland @gutenberg_org This is NOT how you welcopme someone to Mastodon! Maybe at least wait a week or two before getting on them about ALT-text.

@gutenberg_org

It's good that you're here now too. After all, you're in my will. I'll be alive for quite a while, hopefully, but in a hundred years or so my books will go to you guys. So, welcome! 🫢

@TheAuthorVivian @gutenberg_org I didn't know one could donate books to Project Gutenberg- how does that work?
