"If people work from home, how will I socialize?" You will have to go into the forest, bribe an old witch & have her summon new friends for you like the rest of us have to
@roxiqt People who socialise at work used to be the worst people in any office I was working in.
@FuchsiaShock @roxiqt Like that dude who was always wandering the hallways, coffee mug in hand, complaining to anyone dumb enough to stop and listen that he was overworked.
@FuchsiaShock @roxiqt Yep. I’m hybrid, and I enjoy going into the office and seeing my colleagues. But that’s largely because I have a private office with a door that closes, I can pretty much come and go as I please, and I have enough authority to shoo people out when they come into my space because they’re bored.
@roxiqt Or just adopt an army of cats and resign yourself to being a catlady/catdaddy πŸ˜ΉπŸˆπŸˆπŸˆπŸˆπŸˆβ€β¬›
@roxiqt I corner people at a comic convention like everyone else
@roxiqt
Many people socialise via out of work activities if you have regular hours at work at least.
@roxiqt
People who socialize at work are the reason people who work from home are so much more efficient and productive

@roxiqt What do they take as payment?

Asking for a me.

@roxiqt The Blair Friends Project?
@roxiqt you mean my possum friends don’t count

@roxiqt "if people work from home, how will I socialize?"

You will socialize better, because no one will be exhausted from commuting.

@roxiqt Physical socialising is over-rated
@roxiqt Or, you know, be the old forest witch you want to see in the world.
@roxiqt Reminds me very much of my (adult) daughter's friend's mother, who is apparently convinced that my daughter does not exist because she and her friend have never been in the same physical location.
@roxiqt my department vp is like this and she keeps desperately trying to get everyone back into the office.
It’s a wonder why, in a meeting the other day, she said her kids hide in their blankets to avoid speaking to her. πŸ€”
@roxiqt I think it's a valid question and it underlines the importance of "the-third-place" A place that we have been neglecting for a long time.
@roxiqt the old witch is also working from home, you could just Zoom her....
@roxiqt go to the gym, bar, join a group to jog, ride bikes, etc.
What do you think farmers did?
@roxiqt I moved cities right before the pandemic and my social life is still not where I'd like it to be. Being able to be around other adult humans a few days a week is nice! However if my only prospect for socializing was in the workplace I would [redacted]

@roxiqt

mother fuβ€”-

hi new friend can we do some friends things like watch books or summon daemons by dancing naked in the woods or make brownies

@roxiqt @donmelton These are all cracking me up 😭
@roxiqt can i be friends with the witch?
Socialization is overrated

@roxiqt

friggin lazy-ass people

@roxiqt Robert Tressell referred to working class conservatives as 'Ragged Trousered Philantrhopists'.

@roxiqt Or, you know, get an actual life that doesn't revolve around work.

(Actually my life involves a lot of witches and forest madness but that's besides the point...)

@roxiqt been there, done that
@roxiqt Actually, I use UberWitch.
