Wow, thanks everyone for all these boosts and additional science writer handles. Give me a moment to figure out how to compile them in a Mastodon-accessible way. (I ran out of word count on the original post.) But for the moment, you can find more by scrolling through the responses.
Okay, part two: I took the various suggestions and additions that came through this thread and put them in a Google spreadsheet. I'm thrilled to see that the Mastodon community has such enthusiasm for #science #writing and #journalism. Again, here's how you find us. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-M7pJ8wbI_aFnbxcWn2xuiw9GOiHVge0RentAJqp54g/edit?usp=sharing I also added the link to my profile, so it's easy to find.

Me! Science-writer adjacent, enviro journo, recently called a “multi-use tool” (tool in the old-fashioned good way) by an editor I like.
@madelineostrander Do daily astronomy and space facts count as "science writing?" Because that's what I do, and I'm a lady.
Non-space fact: the dominant lady goat of the herd is called the Queen.
@madelineostrander Great idea!
I’m a science writer 👋 Happy to see so many of us landing here

@madelineostrander @Trailanderror
Thanks - I’ve followed a bunch!

And a special shout out to Hannah Weinberger for the wonderful handle @Trailanderror 😂👏

I'm here too! Political scientist, working on the connection between anti-gender politics (aka "gender ideology" vs. "traditional values") with a focus on Russia and Serbia!
@madelineostrander I’m also here - I write astronomy books for a general audience!

First, thank you for compiling. Second, a sincere question: are there any Black women journalists writing on science and nature? I didn't spot any and am wondering if they exist but just haven't migrated to the platform.

@kjumbe Yes, absolutely, there are many Black women journalists on those topics. I'm thinking of the extraordinary Margot Lee Shetterly, Kendra Pierre-Louis, Lornet Turnbull, Halle Parker, Iris Crawford, a whole cadre of folks affiliated with the Uproot Project. https://uprootproject.org/members/ I don't know how many are here on Mastodon yet--I'm pretty new here myself. But I do hope we can create an inclusive intersectional community here.

@madelineostrander I'm here, too, and this is my first official post! Thanks for getting this thread going.
@madelineostrander Followed all of them. Looking forward to my “continuing education.”
