@ademalsasa instead of opendkim/opendmarc, i'd use the built-in capabilities of rspamd these days!
@ademalsasa
#Yunohost is a server debian-based distro and already includes Postfix, Dovecot and rspamd. It is very easy to install and manage. You can use Roundcube, Rainloop or SoGO to manage your emails. This is the easiest way to me to self host stuff like emails or website and many other things. It is also pretty secure and up-to-date.
Thank you my friend @nathanielfreeman for boosting my #selfhosting post.

@Lafiel thank you very much. The setup seems solid and complete.

@ademalsasa @Lafiel Thanks to the NixOS test framework, we also have a nice test suite (running rootless across a VM network).

@ademalsasa

I used to host a dedicated email server + webmail years ago using Sendmail + Squirrelmail.

📨 SquirrelMail is worth knowing about / trying.

GPL

Check it: https://squirrelmail.org

It's GPL.

SquirrelMail - Webmail for Nuts!

@RTP very elaborate and priceless. Thank you, my friend! PS: I also like #Squirrelmail.
@RTP @ademalsasa as far as I know the develop of #squirrelmail is stopped leaving many bugs opened. One recent substitute could be https://snappymail.eu/ that is still developed.

@leandro @ademalsasa @RTP

You can try Alps. https://sr.ht/~migadu/alps/. It was created by Migadu as a free and open source software.

Like #Squirrelmail, Alps doesn't use Javascript at all.

@nawanp @ademalsasa @RTP do you know if there are some screenshots somewhere to have an idea how #alps work?
I think this is what you want. You can also try migadu.com.. No credit card required.

@drq hello, my friend, nice to meet you again. Hey this is new to me, Maddy Mailserver, and it is GPL licensed. Thanks for the recommendation.
@ademalsasa mailcow is great. Very reliable email solution. Been running it close to six years now.
@glenn thank you for your recommendation, Glenn.

Boosting poll above is very appreciated. Thank you.

@ademalsasa dovecot, postfix, amavisd-new, clamav, spamassassin, postgresql, roundcube, mailman3, some self-hacked script around fetchmail, some self-hacked script for monitoring into prometheus
@ademalsasa I did, but not anymore. Too much hassle. Also I hate email from the bottom of my heart. An ancient protocol that only gets dragged through time by adding other tools.

@ademalsasa Postfix, rspamd (with redis), Dovecot (with MySQL), Sieve

... it's getting more and more annoying in the last couple of years with providers getting more and more unhappy about custom mail servers :(

@ademalsasa I used mailcow for years, but recently switched to hosting mail via migadu.

I just got tired of email delivery issues even though I kept on top of my IP reputation. I couldn't email my bank or my insurance companies, and the IT in both of those organizations weren't willing to make exceptions for me.

@ada @ademalsasa Self-hosted mailcow? Or the mailcow.de service?
@ademalsasa I am using freedombox on the so called Pioneer box. It works well but I just deactivated backups because, due to backup failure that I still need to investigate, email service (postfix and dovecot) wasn't resuming. So far, backup failure is the only problem I sometimes had. I still have other email services, I plan to migrate to freedombox once I have it running on a server with a disk (now only micro SD card, so limited storage).
@ademalsasa yep, with mailinabox, i love it ^^
@ademalsasa my friend recommend poste.io iirc
@ademalsasa
I am using #yunohost for the #selfhosted #email (and many other services) from three years
@leandro @ademalsasa I find that #Yunohost hosts my mail remarkably reliably. Or at least it's been super reliable since I moved from super sketchy #Hostgator where all the IP's seem to have been used by spammers, and over to an awesome, privacy loving, green energy host whose IP range all seem clean.
@Blort @ademalsasa I am using a #vpn provider to get a static ip to remove the troubles for the #solfhoste #email and it is working fine!
The only problem I get is in #firefox #safebrowsing crap that is marking my domain as not reliable so I have to use different browsers!

@Blort thank you for your recommendation and review! This motivates me to learn #Yunohost more.

@ademalsasa @leandro HMU if you have any questions. I'm no tech guru, but I managed to get everything running, which is a pretty good endorsement by itself! 😜
@ademalsasa Yep, using OpenBSD ;-)
@ademalsasa I personally use docker-mailserver since the rest of my server is already containerized and it's extremely simple to setup!
@ademalsasa Postfix/Dovecot here as well
@mhamzahkhan thank you Brother Hamzah Khan.
@ademalsasa old days, Postfix+Cyrus imapd. Today, Fastmail cause I got tired of fighting to get mail from my server accepted
@ademalsasa 9front, (n)upas, smtpd, imap4d
@ademalsasa I use #Postfix and #Dovecot. I wrote some blog posts years ago on how I set it up, but I think they're no longer accurate (TLS1.3 is not used in it, I think). One of these days I want to redo my entire mail setup as a #Bashtard playbook so I can more easily roll it out on multiple servers and have the configs stay in sync.
Yes, I selfhost my own email.
@ademalsasa not my everyday mail, but for servers' I use YUNoHost
Hello @albi very nice. Several persons already stated they use Yunohost for email here. Thanks!
@ademalsasa Postfix + Dovecot
@spla thank you for sharing your setup & your boost.
Kind of. I have mailbox.org with custom domain, so I don’t have to host it myself but I can always change it to something else

mailbox
@m @ademalsasa That's definitely not self-hosting. You don't run the mailbox.org servers and software.
Yeah, but if I want to switch from mailbox.org to something else for whatever reason then I can do it easily in a few minutes and without changing my email address 😄
