Právě jsem donastavil #YunoHost pro #EMail a zatím prochází i do #Google.
Nechám to takhle chvilku běžet, #Zoho mám zatim zaplacený, ale zdá se, že z YNH jde opravdu poměrně jednoduše dostat funkční #mailserver

Пошта, нотатки, файли — для кожної задачі вже існує готове рішення. Але за цією зручністю легко не помітити одну річ: майже всі ці сервіси насправді живуть не у нас. Вони працюють десь далеко, на серверах великих компаній. Ми звикли називати це “хмарою”, хоча по суті це просто чужі комп’ютери. Іноді люди з різних причин задумуються про альтернативні рішення....
My transcoding saga has pushed me to make an upgrade purchase: A Lenovo M90q with an Intel i5-10500 that can NATIVELY encode h.265 video. (h.264 wasn’t cutting it.) It will be doing duty as Rex, the new container host of my home lab, replacing Fox, a HP EliteDesk with an i5-7600.
The #M90q has an 8X PCIe slot that I can use it for LLM duty once I save enough pennies for a GPU. 😎
EDIT: Haven’t settled on an OS yet. It may be Debian, like Fox.
So I have a weird problem with my #SelfHosted Masotdon/Glitchsoc instance: when I log in from my PC I get the ‘Something went wrong on our end’ pachyderm smashing on keyboard error. I’ve tried a clean install (of the client system), Firefox, Edge, Chrome. Client access through Ivory is unaffected as is accessing it with Safari on my iPad. I’ve tried regenerating my secrets keys. Re-running the database migration. No joy. It’s a single-user instance running with #Yunohost.
Come sapete ho la mia istanza personale su #SNAC2, dove ogni tanto mi lascio andare a pipponi un po’ più tecnici e decisamente lunghi… 😄
E sia chiaro, SNAC2 va benissimo. È leggero, velocissimo, gira praticamente su un tostapane… però è talmente minimale che a un certo punto presenta il conto.
I miei post stanno aumentando, e con loro il rischio concreto che, pian piano, inizino a sparire. Non per cattiveria, ma perché lì sotto non c’è un vero database… è filosofia zen applicata al #Fediverso: “se non lo vedi più, forse non era importante” 😄
Il problema è che alcune cose importanti lo sono davvero, e non ho intenzione di lasciarle evaporare nel nulla cosmico.
Quindi, mio malgrado (ma neanche troppo), torno su #GoToSocial, che già conosco e che mi garantisce un minimo di memoria storica senza diventare un carro armato.
Questa volta però si fa come piace a me:
niente automatismi strani, niente #YunoHost… installazione pulita, controllata, un pezzo alla volta.
Datemi solo un po’ di tempo per fare le cose con calma, sistemare tutto come si deve e migrare quello che merita davvero.
Poi ci risentiamo da GTS 😉
Fermo restando che #Mastodon su snowfan.it resta lì, solido come una roccia, per la parte “social” vera e propria.🙏
@smallcircles @gary Standards are impprtant but also efforts to make tools that regular people can use. An example is the difference between #openrt and #yunohost - both great projects but for non technical people openwrt is difficult to engage with but amazingly powerful while yunohost focuses on usability while.accpeting some fundamental limitations.
Id love to see something that brings the two together (or perhaps.something modular that work together) to deliver a guided setup of router and selfhosted opensource apps for a non technical user.
