Palouse, Washington

One of my favorite things to take photos of are the welcome signs that greet you upon arriving in a town/city. If this interests you please follow along with this hashtag #WelcomeSigns

Home, Washington

While this wasn’t the first welcome sign photo I’ve taken, it’s the first one I specifically traveled to get. I love how varied the signs can be, some are very simple, some very intricate. All are unique :)

Kettle Falls, Washington

Pretty cheeky sign which I enjoyed. I fortunately avoided meeting the resident grouch.

Yakima, Washington

My head cannon says there’s a welcome sign in Palm Springs welcoming people to the Yakima of California 😂

Point Roberts, Washington

This one took some effort, Point Roberts is an exclave with no land connection to the rest of Washington and the United States. Visitors have to travel through Canada to reach Point Roberts and vice versa. Unfortunately the community was hit very hard during the pandemic as it was completely isolated. Now that the border is open again, I hope it recovers.

@amay206 I was surprised to realize there is a Grass Valley *OREGON* (I live here)... While for decades being nostalgically enamored with Grass Valley CA. Like a wake up call, your photograph is setting in motion a plan to experience OUR Grass Valley!
Thank you!
@Katharyn This makes me so happy, it’s pretty small but it’s fun to visit new places
@amay206 There's a nice bookstore in Gold Beach which has a little coffee shop selling some of the best pecan sticky buns outside of Pennsylvania.
@fvehafric This is why I love social media. I would have never known this, thank you!
@amay206 Nice! Haven’t been there in years.
@pseudonymsupreme Neither have I, going through some old photos lol
@amay206 Love the crooked Patty Murray sign - it really makes the photo.
@gorfram What do you mean?
@amay206 I mean that the Murray sign, and its being crooked, adds quirkiness and character to your photo. Without it, the photo might seem a bit too straightforward despite its strong geometric composition, & regional & thematic interest.
@gorfram also gives some perspective of time, clearly is taken during election season. Appreciate your insight :)

@amay206 they have a sister city…Dull, Scotland.

Sounds like a joke, but it is true.

@DFrayneB I knew that! I hope to make it there one day.
