Dry Cider pours with intent. Out of the can, it plunges into the glass, creating a shaving cream-white head that settles over a clear, pale gold pool. On the nose: white grape, wilderness florals, and that unmistakable crushed apple character. The sip opens with sweet sugar and doughy bread, layered with white grape and fresh orchard fruit. Medium mouthfeel, a touch of alcoholic warmth, and a lingering warmth that carries a dry finish cleanly to the back of the throat. This is structure, balance, and classic expression.
Then there’s Imperial Pink Guava—and it doesn’t ease in. From the stovepipe can, it bursts into the glass, settling into an orange-pink opaque body with a fleeting creamsicle-orange head. Aromatically, it’s vibrant: guava leads, backed by bubblegum and apples. The palate follows with pungent orchard fruit and melon before that guava note takes over, finishing semi-dry. Sipping, we pick up a lot of that, plus some grassiness, and a welcome balance of sweet, crisp, maltiness. Overall, Five Star Dive Bar has a mild mouthfeel, some alcoholic warmth, and a lingering semi-dry stickiness on the palate.
