A request for the lovely teachers and librarians who are contacting authors for World Read Aloud Day:
Please don't send a mass email to twice as many authors as you can accommodate, with all of our email addresses visible, and say that whoever gets to your signup sheet first can read to your class. #kidlit #wrad #worldreadaloudday
One day later (sorry!) but let's celebrate World Read Aloud Day 2023 by reading aloud to ourselves, our children, our friends and love ones, even our dogs.
Reading aloud is a way to show affection and share the stories that made our world so magic.

I'm celebrating World Read Aloud Day by donating 3 school visits to #middleschools in #Sweden, #Wisconsin and #Illinois! I'll be reading from my book Friend Me and my not-at-all-unsettling robotic cat, FRED, will tag along.

I love doing World Read Aloud Day (it's so much fun to meet with classes), but it kind of stinks that I'm in EST, which makes the "world" aspect quite limited. Case in point: a school in Mumbai wants me to present to pretty much their whole elementary and middle school. That would be so cool, but my time zone means that I couldn't quite manage (due to having a 9-5 day job, I tend to be a little tired at 8 pm Zooms of this kind, so a post-10 pm one is not going to work).
