The addition meant they now had room for new and wonderful stuff: gadgets, from luggage scales to sewing machines to ukuleles to USB external floppy drives etc., that you can borrow, a dedicated "teen" space, and a maker space, including 3D printers. The last two are in rooms off the wall to the right in the pictures here.

A few years ago, they added a brand new fancy addition, that was very tastefully integrated, and allowed them to restore the interior to the original design. (The reference librarian's "office" used to be inside one of the massive fireplaces in the room just before the main hall. It was very cramped LOL.)

I went to my local public library and was reminded again what a stunning building it is. It was designed by H. H. Richardson and built in 1879.
