A drone fly (Eristalis tenax), often mistaken for a honeybee, feeding on the flowers of common ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris).
These hoverflies are harmless and important pollinators, cleverly mimicking bees to avoid predators.
Despite its bad reputation, ragwort plays a crucial role in supporting insect life — from bees and butterflies to beetles and hoverflies.
