The Earth Rover Program could transform soil science, cut farm waste, and promote veganic farming in the UK. 🌾🌱 #farming #agriculture #veganicfarming #soilscience #farmer

Earth Rover Programme Promises...

Hi #Mexico,

Do you know any farms or collectives that practise #permaculture, #NoTill or #VeganicFarming (one can hope!) anywhere in the country? Please let me know.

Starting in March, I plan to volunteer at farms, learn permaculture techniques for different climates, and continue working on my Spanish.

I'm aware of @AgroecologyMap and plan to sign up on WWOOF. Are there other relevant resources?

We really do need to see more research money and labour going into veganic farming. No chemicals, so less harm to animals. Green manures are used. Organic farming typically uses a lot of animal manure, and its ploughing releases greenhouse gases, so it is less sustainable. #veganicFarming #degrowth
#environment #globalwarming

Instead of animal poo on farms, some farmers use only plants - green manures. These do not leach nutrients in the rain like muck-spreading and fertilisers. Nutrients are locked in complex organics. Crucially, crop plant roots have been shown to unlock those nutrients as needed.

I'll dig out the research on request - pun totally intended 😜

Cut the shit! Just ONE type of farming without animal crap. ...and put the hedgerows back in! When I was a kid, fields in my part of the UK were smaller, with hedgerows teaming with wildlife. Our combined harvester U-turned regularly.

🌾🌿 #veganicfarming #noshitfood #veganistischelandbouw #blijzonderei

Reconcile this: liking butterflies because they provide entertainment yet hating caterpillars. They have low intelligence, reflection, creativity... Yet we wage war on them for eating OUR food plants - which they also like.

Here are some veganic farming references. No pesticides (only incidental harm to animals), no inorganic fertilisers, and plant biomass/no manure.

Iain Tolhurst (Tolly) has been doing some fantastic work on some terrible, pebbly soil in the UK. Videos on the farm on YouTube. Book.

Modern pesticides damage the brain of bees so they can’t move in a straight line - Science & research news | Frontiers

By Mischa Dijkstra, Frontiers science writer Researchers show for the first time that honeybee foragers exposed to the pesticides sulfoxaflor and imidacloprid have an impaired optomotor response, which makes them poor at keeping themselves on a straight trajectory while moving. This impairment is accompanied by damage to brain cells and dysregulation of detoxification genes. These
