Golden Retriever GF"Do not let the perfect become the enemy of the good" is a very difficult thing for me. I have #OCD. I was raised in a abstinence only abusive conservative christian household. Had a chastity ring. Did the purity culture and the cult camps and everything. Perfection is so important to me that it can be paralyzing.
Still, I have to look at US politics and really wonder. What. The. Fuck? I became pro-Palestine in 2015 when I visited Scotland. Obama was the president at the time. No genocide Obama comments. I'd guess a great deal of you that are all "Genocide Joe" or won't vote for moral qualms for the Democrats would have looked at me like my friends and family when I said "Palestine". They did not even know what I was talking about. The US has been allied to Israel since 1948. The idea that only democratshave supported this and that it started at Biden/Harris is idiocy and hysterical levels of historical blindness and privilege that I wish had never seen before.
Those concentration camps that y'all love to pin on Trump were founded on policies made by Clinton, then reinforced by the Obama administration. I've had kitchen managers that became cooks because Obama was deporting immigrants to look good, ICE came to his restaurant, a good natured server screamed run at all the Mexicans in the kitchen. They did run but ICE was depending on a good samaratin nad were waiting outside the back door. The head chef saw that my head chef could flip an egg and that's where it started. Under Obama. But you only gave a shit during the Trump Administration.
I really and truly believe that the Electoral College having two sides has led many to believe that it's a binary thing. Liberal and Conservative. Good or bad. When the truth is, Democracy and any other political system has nothing to do with morality. Treat it as a bus route. What gets me closer to my goals?
Is it a bunch of people that will do nothing really to advance your goals so you have to take part in your government, fight and protest other than acting like a god behind a keyboard when all you come across as is a pretentious shit-stain that has been studied and found to be better at driving people to fascism than it has ever been akin to "activism". I even had someone like this come to me after I confronted a racist and say "I wish I could be like you but I was so scared. I know what I would do in Nazi Germany.". I didn't have the heart to tell him, he'd already failed the test.
When you are voting you are voting for difficulty setting. Trump has already vowed he would give weapons to help Isreal finish the job and deny aid to Ukraine. He's also vowed to end elections. Your decision to do nothing and not vote is no different than the Janitor that ended the White Rose in Nazi Germany. Because you disagree with their methods you'll just LET a fascist come to power.
I'm not in any allusion that many people won't hear me. Half of you are too high on your moral highhorses to hear me and the other half found that left doesn't exist like you want it to so you bent around backwards and shoved your head so far up your own asses that you had to fall in love with your own stink to avoid acknowledging the toxicity of your "safe" communities.
I left the United States not just because of job dissatisfaction and the general backtrend in civil rights but because American leftists are such a joke that I knew it would never get better. So will you not vote because it doesn't get you exactly where you need and garuantee you never get to vote again or will you acknowledge your own system, hold your nose and vote for Harris? To me and almost every sane European I have met, the answer is obvious. I don't know why it's so difficult for my Countrymen.
